If anyone's looking for some ideas, here are some recommendations from your buddy Term:

[Casualties of Cool - Casualties of Cool] Quiet, folky/country rock. Some ambiance, dark atmosphere
[Royksopp - Melody AM] Downtempo, electronic, passive
[Agent Fresco - A Long Time Listening] Progressive rock, weirdass time signatures/changes, great melodies, Iceland
[Nahko & Medicine for the People - Dark as Night] Folk, hippie s***, beautiful
[Art By Numbers - Reticence: The Musical] Progressive rock/metal, great melodies, "just stick that anywhere" songwriting
[Devin Townsend - Ziltoid the Omniscient] Progressive metal, heavy s***, space alien takes over earth or something, funny, sequel soon, one of my favorite albums

I'm a little short of 30, so I'll be taking some recommendations myself. Can't make any promises about how many I'll add, though.

going deep in my collection and brining out some old stuff to relisten to
trying to throw in some variation between the albums
and some new albums I haven't listened to yet maybe

YES i am so excited for this

i'm definitely doing it, i'm gonna try (try!) to do an album a day for the whole month. i've got quite a few albums in my backlog that i've been meaning to get around to, i'll put some of them in a calendar and post it a little later

some of luke's recommended albums for november:
Daedelus - Invention (lofi idm, downtempo, beat music. very comfy and warm. equal to being wrapped up in a big fuzzy blanket on a cold night)
Massive Attack - Mezzanine (trip hop. dark, sexy and atmospheric)
cLOUDDEAD - cLOUDDEAD (logan's described this album as "the beastie boys reciting abstract poetry over droney boards of canada instrumentals" and i think that's pretty astute. it's a long album and it's a bit hard to listen to but it's probably my favorite hip hop album of all time)
also any albums by The Books are highly recommended.

i'm probably gonna try to include a few albums recommended by others as well in mine.

those are the ones you're gonna do this month? cool, aesop rock's skelethon is quite nice, as well as capt. murphy's duality. girlfriends self titled is fun as hell and some of the others i recognize are cool as well

the golden era mixtapes or anything under golden era records (aussie hip hop)
http://thesisthemc.bandcamp.com/album/lee-krasner hip hop inspired by classic hip hop & underground stuff

woodblue . downtempo kinda spacey feeling
yasushi yoshida really pretty stuff, 'modern classical'
kenichiro nishihara jazzy stuff, sometimes with vocals by guests

* Funeral For A Friend - Casually Dressed And Deep In Conversation

halfway there

recs:
Say Anything - Is A Real Boy
fun little pop punk/alt rock record. despite being a pop punk record, each track is pretty distinct and is usually longer than 3 minutes. the linked song is a prime example.
max bemis' vocal performance is magnificent. he would go on to have a nervous breakdown after releasing this album and then make a bunch of okay to bad albums

Fightstar - Grand Unification
post hardcore concept album, heavily influenced by Neon Genenesis Evangelion.
one of my personal favourites, even if it may not be some critically acclaimed, genre defining album. lot of fun tunes. the longest track, Mono, displays some post-rock influences.
solid musicianship all around, with every instrument having some memorable parts (the bass on Grand Unification pt.1, and the drumming on Lost Like Tears In Rain, for example)

there's a bunch more i could recommend atm but it's 2am and im a little tired. Is A Real Boy is one i've been listening to a bunch recently and Grand Unification is the album that's been in my library the longest (probably) so they're the first ones i thought of
i could probably give better descriptions but whatever i got my point across
