Good to hear! I guess it's happening then

Here's the image template for August. If you were here last time, you know the drill. Otherwise, fill out one of those so we've all got a visual representation of what you're gonna be spinning this month.
Conveniently, the August dates this year line up on exactly the same days as November last year. I didn't have to edit the image at all, beyond adding the 31st

Looks like we've got about ten days to decide what we're listening to and when. I'm wondering if I should only do every other day personally; doing one every day can get kind of exhausting

oh also if you want to post some recommendations for people looking for albums to fill their charts, that's super encouraged. I'll be posting a few myself soon

So I've finished my chart

Here are my recommendations -- these are all albums I heard for the first time when we did this in November (With an obligatory plug of my all time favorite album, of course)

(Click for preview songs)

Massive Attack - Mezzanine
Essential Lukecore. Sexy a** dark electronic music. Super accessible as an electronic record, if you're unfamiliar with the genre. Pretty famous in the Internet electronic/hipster/music scene, and around MG too.

Sufjan Stevens - Illinois
By far my favorite discovery from November. Indie pop/folk/rock record with tons of styles and influences on display. Some brilliant songwriting too

Monarch - The Grandeur That Was Rome
Quiet rock/pop record that never quite found its audience. Supremely pretty, very catchy songs.

The Avalanches - Since I Left You
Electronic record composed entirely from samples of other songs. You might think it'd be a frankenstein mishmash, but the songs are brilliantly put together. They're super f*** dense too, you'll hear something new every listen. An extremely interesting album

DJ Shadow - Endtroducing...
Similar to the above, this album's composed entirely of samples. It takes a more reserved approach though, relying on fewer sources and more steady beats. Another extremely interesting listen

Brand New - The Devil and God are Raging Inside Me
Alt rock/emo album. Fantastic lyrics & songwriting, but it can be a f***' downer. Can be quite powerful if you let it. Fairly famous album too (Actually, most of these are to be honest)

The Devin Townsend Project - Ki
An absolutely gorgeous album, alternating between crushing heavy metal and a beautiful quiet reverence. My favorite album of all time; I could talk about this record for hours. But you should just listen to it instead

im gonna put 3 albums for each week because i think i can handle that many
here's what i have so far

Image

also some recommendations:
Dean Blunt - The Narcissist II
The less you know about this album before you listen to it, the better. Just listen to it if you're interested in experiencing something different.

Doseone - Hemispheres
Alternative hip-hop from the 90's. Dude has a nasally voice and it complements the ethereal and hypnotic instrumentals really well. One of my favorite hip-hop albums.

The Books - The Lemon Of Pink
You know that record I never shut up about? Yeah. I'm perpetually recommending everyone on the planet to listen to this.

I'm going to do this but I don't really want to make a chart so when I decide what to listen to I'll post the list here. I'll try to do it every day.

Yo term are you still doing listenalongs during August

Because if you are it'd be better to plan them ahead of time so we could just have them as our albums of the day

yeah we'll listen to the ones on my calendar

lol

honestly we can take august on that i think. interest has never been huge and a lot of people are having a hard time making it. might consider other ways to go about it//things that can be done

so no, no listenalongs, unless someone feels like putting some impromptu thing together at some point

If the general idea is just doing stuff together then we might be better off organising nights to watch movies or play games

Albums generally feel something you listen to and talk about afterwards rather than something you talk about as you listen, so they honestly don't really feel like they're that suited for group things anyway

Either way if we're gonna talk about what to do we should do it somewhere else lol

Charts are hard so I just used Topsters

In that order.
Some of them I've already heard, but either it's been a while and I forget a lot of them or I haven't heard them in full.
