I think it's lovely. It breaks the fourth wall, and the shading is very consistent and concise. Nice proportions as well. Great job.

If there's anything that I could improve, don't hesitate to point it out.

I don't believe the hair should have such a strong highlight. It doesn't work with the light source you have (coming from our right), and the hat sticks out quite a bit, due to it having so many shades, while the rest of the outfit doesn't come close. The head has give shades on almost everything, while the rest of the body doesn't. It makes the head stick out more, which is nice, but it's awfully inconsistent. I also believe that the arm closest to us could have it's shading revisited. It should be one of the brightest shaded areas, so it appears to be sticking out of the black box even better.

It's really nice, though the arm outside of the box, from certain angles it looks kind of floppy/jelly-ish, instead of being forearm, and other arm.

Ie: C instead of /_

Well not quite as drastic as C but I think you get the point.

It's been done quite well as a piece of pixel art.
However since you want criticism I would say that the sections outside the black square are pixellated and the shading on the hat could be smoother.
