Savy's sketches: A Smash Bro Fist

Howdy.

I'm Brik and I like to draw. However, I am not satisfied with my current level of skill. To remedy this, I will post something on a weekly basis in the hopes of receiving critique and using it to level up. Fire away!

There are nice elements, but overall they are far too simple-looking and take away from the rest of the outfit. For me, this is the drawing that confirmed that. Thankfully, I ran across a guy with an actual prosthetic leg while I was thinking about how to redesign Meeka's, so that provided the perfect source of inspiration. I'll be posting the new and improved version shortly. Meeka: show [ Image ] EDIT: Almost completely new design for the legs, along with an attempt at keeping the rings. I do like that aspect of the original design, but I'm not sure how to make them look less... tacky. Dem legs: show [ Image ] Additionally, here is a drawing I made many moons ago of Anjie's husband, Oscar. Even though it's an older one, comments and critique are still welcome. FroMage best mage.

For metallic surfaces, from my experience, the important thing is what they're reflecting.

As an example, here's a rendering of "3D maneuver gear" with a mostly Glossy material;

And here's that same scene but with a diffuse material;

My shaders aren't perfect but I think they communicate that the overall shading and light source stay the same, but with more reflective materials, you get to draw more reflections :D

Goodness, it's been more than two weeks since I last posted here! This is clearly unacceptable.

I've been working on 30-60 second gesture drawings which, while incredibly useful, are not the most interesting thing to show. Anyroad, I figured I would learn basic anatomy by drawing some of my favourite characters. Combination of fun and learning and all that jazz.

Up first is the coolest Hyrulean ninja, Sheik! I can already spot a few problems, such as the torso being too long and some issues with symmetrical placement of details (the "screws" on the chest being the biggest offenders), but overall I'm fairly happy with it for a first effort. Have to keep leveling up, though! Shading and a few fixes to come.

Daw, thanks guys. That's really cool to hear. I welcome any tips on what I could improve as well.
