I really like the way you shade

Thanks man, I appreciate it! Shading in general has been one of the things I've been playing around with.

The head of Krampus though, the head.
He looks like a non-human satyre, maybe you could add more bones coming out of his body (if the thing on his back are bones or horns...?) like the things you didn't highlight below his elbow

I went with the demonic bone concept which is that bones or the horn-stuff cover his body like an armor or just coolness, maybe not with all the stuff I added but you get my idea. The way you shaped his hands made me think that maybe he could change the shape of his hands to make them more sharp, which is why all the aesthetic look with the bones near the hands.....IDK

In the end it's your OC so... uh... idk lol.

I think Krampus is more based on a tree like demon than a skeleton.
I come to that conclusion because the twig on his back and his bark-esque skin and occasional spiked bark.
But yeah, Krampus since he has a skull should probably have occasional spiky bones coming out. Maby a ribcage?
I don't think that putting a skull on a piece of wood really blends well.

Anyways , keep up the good work and try not to add too much shading on some panels.

You show real promise, Steve. I highly recommend you create a professional portfolio and make yourself available. Talent and motivation are a rare commodity.

But thanks, your comment filled me with intensive happiness! As of late, I've had a bit more free time to draw and I've done some (2 or 3) commisions on the side in the past months, but nothing too big yet. Right now I'm thinking that after I assess and define what I'm capable of now (since its been awhile since I've really had the time to sit down and draw a lot) I might take up a couple of workshops or so to further improve what I lack. I also want to make the jump to digital art since I have a Wacom tablet, but I'm gonna need to look into a good program like Manga Studio for that first.




The style is progressively getting more and more toony which is what I'm aiming for. I'm still trying to mix different bits and pieces, but if I compare the characters now to how they looked 5 months ago I definetly feel like they are better.

Marks (round dude) and Spencer (moustache dude) were intentionally designed to be simple but recognisable, so that's why they are mostly made up of a simple shape. The challenge right now is to make the designs is such a way that they allow expressions, and I'm looking at ideas to convert expression into motion. More on this later I guess.
