Here's a challenge/request: I'd like you to draw a Black Mage, and somehow involve depictions of his Elemental Spells, most notably Thunder, Ice, and Fire (of course you can include others as well).
By the way, you are a fantastic artist, and I'm quite impressed with your work. ^^

Alright, don't bog him down too much. Wait until you see current requests finished before asking for anything else, guys.
Now, Rex's picture is nice, but has several huge problems. You already mentioned the background being terrible, but you also said you didn't know what kind to do. Take a look at other pictures of boats in the ocean. Even if it's a black and white drawing, the water always has a particular shade, never pure white. I believe white should be reserved for special instances, otherwise almost everything else should be a certain shade of gray. Another thing that sticks out is the coat. It's so rigid, even more so than it should be. Those types of peacoats were known for being straight-stitched, but would still flow in the wind. Now, I don't know if you've ever been to sea, but the wind is often strong. You could've taken advantage of this fact and given him flowing apparel. Now, the pose does seem a bit awkward. I notice he's looking at the watch as he's balancing on the boat, but perhaps that wasn't the best situation to put him in. The beauty of drawing is that you get to choose which moment you illustrate. You could easily put him to extremes. I don't know much about the character, but depending on his demeanor, he could either be hunched over and sitting down staring at the watch or standing proudly whilst looking at the watch and grinning. Really take into account a character's personality when deciding how to pose them.

I'm glad you did, dude! Thanks! Why thank you. And sure thing! It's already in progress! Interesting...ok! Let's try! | | | | Blue wrote: Now, Rex's picture is nice, but has several huge problems. You already mentioned the background being terrible, but you also said you didn't know what kind to do. Thanks for your criticism! Later that night I came out with a better pose for him :/ May do it someday, it's very similar to one you mentioned. And yeah, I'll try to at least look at more ocean images, see what I can learn from them. Hehe, this will be fun to do. Sure thing dude! Now, for today's update! Really couldn't say if the character was a girl or a boy! I feel ashamed if he's a boy instead, but I wanted also to try drawing more feminine characters, so... And I feel very proud of the way this turned out to be, it's a very interesting situation for the character.I hope you can feel that too. There you go, Blue

Well, I like the idea of the scene. I'm noticing a pattern with your backgrounds, though. You seem to draw a line for the horizon and then place everything around it. If you take a look at great artists, they never do this and for very good reason. It makes everything artificial-feeling. Instead, try drawing the scene first and then incorporating the character and changing things to make him/her fit better.

Yeah, that patter is correct. Been doing that since I started Architecture at college, you know, the vanishing point, earth line, etc, etc. Will try to do something about it here. Why thank you ReXos. And I added the scar, I wanted to put him as an older and wiser character, making him kinda different. (Tought about adding him a bigger beard and moustache...may do something about that too. Sure thing! Who's that character? Need more info. BTW, Updated the first post with the requests.

Ah, there we go. You see, that's leagues better than your previous backgrounds. First of all, you gave a bit of perspective and completed the scene. However, you didn't include any sort of foreground, so it's hard to gauge the distance we are from him. Still, this is nice. Keep doing what you've done here and just add onto that.

Back to the trenchs! I participated in a little contest here in Mexico to win some Hellboy's comic books. The theme was to put Hellboy celebrating Mexico's independence, and this was my entry. Also, I made a very quick colored version... Sadly, I didn't win. Anyway, I think I did a fine job! Hope you tell me what do you think of my drawing and also of the winner's. Peace.
