Amazing character! At first I didn't really like him (especially his recovery) even though he's my favorite character and that was probably because I was so used to playing Naruto all the time. Luffy's attacks are really different from Naruto's. But after a while I fell in love with Luffy. Now he's my main.

At first I wasn't too sure about the whole grappling style Luffy was going to have but now seeing how well in work in the actual game, I must say that I'm impressed. Luffy is one of my favorite anime characters of all time and I'm so glad you guys did him justice. Big up to McleodGaming for the all the hard work and special shout out to Steven; I know that you really pushed for Luffy to come to life and I thank you for that.

After using luffy a ton more, I see him as one of the best counter picks to spacies/campers.
He can combo REALLY good.
I found out you can down b 2-3 times but might be better to do it 2 times then up b or once then up b.
I really like his neutral attacks cause it can kill.
His nair is really useful to continue combos (at first I was like, what's the point of this? LOL).
But yeah, he seems like one of the best combo characters in game and really fun to use once you learn how to recovery and make use of his up b, neutral b and nair.

People are saying he's an amazing character and that he's top tier. But i feel like the extended hurtboxes on his moves hold him back from being so good. He's still is a pretty good character tho.

idk about top tier but his moves are really fun semingly to me side b is one of the best follow ups(A gift and a curse) .very risky against disjointed attacks .

I honestly think his side b (gum gum bazooka) should have some more knock back.
Imo it would make up for the fact that it's a punishable move and that's kinda how it is in the anime hehe (not saying it should have the same knock back like in the anime tho obv LOL).
Edit: Just remembered it's not gum gum bazooka, it's gum gum head butt if that's the name of it when he used it against that claw guy (if people remember him).
But yeah, if it was gum gum bazooka then the knock back would REALLY need a buff lol, (people can be 130% and side b still wouldn't kill). But since it's a head but it makes more sense to me now imo lol.

It's got hella range though. It's not a true combo or anything, but using it when you get an opponent offstage followed by Up-Spec or jump with Fair usually works.

I've combo'd side-spec into jump nair consistently. Also, is it just me or is the luffy/naruto MU realllly hard for luffy? Aerial D-spec and Side-spec hit all of his command grabs and luffy doesn't have anything to cancel them.

Just found this out today when playing online as Luffy.
When you try to side b your opponent and it doesn't connect, before he pulls back his arms, you can grab at his arms and luffy ends up teleporting into your grab (I forgot if hitting his arms like that also works too?).
So as I see his side b:
It's great to use when you pressure people then they start to try spacing you out, shield spamming, camping and grabbing the ledge (which neutral b also does).
But it's an extended hit box and allows people to grab and maybe even fsmash you.
So luffy is a really good character, but you gotta be REALLY CAREFUL using his side b. It does have it's good uses but the fact they can also grab you if you miss is annoying.
Just my opinion.

Yea, that wouldn't surprise me. I think any projectile-oriented character is death for Luffy. However, using aerial down-Spec to approach may be an option since it has super/heavy armor? Even using it to get above your opponent allows you to get some good falling follow-ups?

His down b can actually work just like F.L.U.D.D in ssb4. I was trying to recover with up b, and soon as I did and almost got back on stage, luffy did the down b and push me back off and since it isn't a hit, I can't up b again. Luffy's down b is so good imo lol.

You can ledge stall with Down-B (I dubbed it GGB Ledge Stall). You're not fully invincible, but you get the super armor frames at the startup of down-b.
