Name (aka Handle): CRAZZY
How old are you?: 16
Which characters do you play in SSF2? Why do you play these characters? (Note: do not list characters that are not currently in the game):
Back in 2009 when I first played this game, I started as Ichigo. To this day, I remain loyal to my character. When I first tried the game (probably back in 0.6 beta) I played Ichigo. I was amazed at how agile he is, and how powerful he is at the same time. He reminds me of Ike from SSB Brawl, while Ike is incredibly slow, he is very strong. Ichigo essentially takes Ike's weakness (his speed) and fixes it. I find Ichigo to be a beastly opponent, and if he is played right almost unbeatable.
I've also fooled around with Sora. Sora gives me a sort of Ness from SSB 64. Ness (while is rated incredibly weak) is arguably one of the best characters in the game. His combos (which are quite easy to get off) can deal as much as 50-100 damage within the first 10 seconds of a match. While fooling around with Sora, his in air light attacks give me the same feel as Ness would of. I haven't really gotten him to the level at which I can play Ichigo, but I feel like he'll be a close second when I start to practice.
I may expand onto other characters, I'm not sure yet.
How much experience do you have with official Smash titles? (SSB64, Melee, Brawl. Include in this answer which characters you play/played.):
Heh, this is a good question. I'll organize these by games: Note: I have 2 brothers who are extremely competitive with Smash.
SSB64: I grew up with it. When I was 3, I used to sit in my s**** and play single player. I would fool around with Link, Captain Falcon (who was my first character ever) and Samus. As time went on, Melee came out and my family forgot about it. As the years went on, I started to go back to the game, determined to take the title of Smash King (which my brother Andrew has) from every game. Around a year ago, I started to learn how to play Ness. I spend hours TASing the game to get perfect combos and absolutely crush his DK. Eventually, I was able to not only beat the single player on Very Hard and not lose a life, I was able to play 3 level 9 computers (Samus, Captain Falcon, and DK) and just barely win. My skill was beyond belief, finally I played him. While I got warmed up the first few, I saw his strategy, it was pretty easy to beat. After I beat him in the best 2/3, he decided he'd pull out his secret weapon. Kirby. He was unbelievably good with Kirby, he could kill me even before I got back on the stage. Around November of 2013, he went into a Smash 64 tournament and placed 2nd. He would of won, but he used DK the first round. I still to this day cannot beat his Kirby.
Melee: Melee is a very good game. That is the smash we have put the most time into. We have broken 2 disks from overuse (1000+ hours each disk) and we're about to break our third. This game went the same way, my brother Andrew played Roy, and I beat him. He went to counter me (I play Falco) and chose Sheik. As time went on, his Sheik got better, and I seemed to be losing my edge. Now, my other brother Jeff, plays Marth. Marth and Roy kind of counter each other. So, it's always interesting to see them go at it. I cannot beat either of my brothers in Melee, their time into that game far surpasses mine.
Brawl: Brawl is the game I really "grew" up with. I got it the night it came out, and went home to play it. It took hours, we grinded all the achievements, and we figured out all the fun home-run techniques. Unfortunately, I lost my video of the 30,000 homerun contest. I actually recently tried to become champ of this game. I managed to do it, my Lucas was pretty strong, but my Ike is unbeatable. My brother couldn't manage to take more than 1 life away from me. I am the king of that game!
Characters: SSB64: Main: Ness
Melee: Main: Falco Secondary: Dr. Mario
Brawl: Main: Ike Secondary: Lucas
Have you ever attended any Smash tournaments? If so, give some details about the tournament (number of participants, which games, etc). How well did you place?
Unfortunately, I have not. I would absolutely love to go to one! I'm sure when Smash 4 comes out I'll be going to plenty. Otherwise, I haven't been to any.
When did you start playing SSF2?
Probably around 0.6 Beta, I'm not too sure. I have been practicing ever since 0.9B came out though.
What is your favorite stage in SSF2? Explain.
Final Destination, it's a classic from Melee. Who doesn't love that stage? It's really were everything gets intense, no where to hide, just a platform.
Who, in your opinion, should be placed first on the SSF2 tier list? Under competitive settings why would this character perform on a higher level than all others?
I would have to say Ichigo, his Final Smash is undoubtably one of the most OP things in the game. Infinite jump? All I have to do is hit up on my controller, and then hit you to the side, then do a down-A attack and you're essentially done. Or, I can just use my saving move and do unspeakable amounts of damage. His regular mode is good as well.
In competitive, he would easily outperform all characters. His moves are incredibly agile and you can easily evade anyone's attacks. While when his combos are performed properly the person can barely hit him.
Who, in your opinion, should be placed last on the SSF2 tier list? Under competitive settings why would this character perform on a lower level than all others?
I really, really, really dislike Wario. He's genuinely a joke of a character. He is slow, while he may be strong his moves are just overall not impressive. I would be interested to see someone actually being able to use him.
If you could make only one change to SSF2 as it currently is, what would it be and why?
A better online system. No frame drops, no latency issues, better organization, maybe a chatbox? It would significantly improve the online community.
What is your view on items in competitive play?
I do not like items in competitive play. I think some Final Smashes are incredibly overpowered and last way too long (Fox's) because of the fight over them, it would just be two people trying to go after an item. I do not think that would be entertaining, and they're truly obnoxious to the gameplay. Competitive should be about per skill, not about who can use the most OP item first.
Do you have or can you download Skype? You don't need a mic or webcam.
I have Skype, I also have all the VoIP programs (Teamspeak 3, Ventrilo, Mumble). I also have an IRC client.
My headset is a Logitech B530, I highly recommend it. It's cheap and sound quality is amazing.
Why do you want to join the Smash Flash Back Room? What will you contribute? Why are you an exceptional applicant? Be as detailed as possible.
I absolutely love Super Smash Brothers, and I've been looking for a new community to join. I have moderated many communities, servers, and forums. I can contribute amazing gameplay, ideas for the game to be improved upon, and someone funny and great to play with. My application is exceptional because I have thousands upon thousands of hours with Super Smash Brothers, my gameplay time far surpasses probably 99% of this forum. I have 6+ hours a day I can play, and I'm almost always online!
Additional information (Include in this section anything relevant to your application. This could include links to videos of yourself playing.)
I do not play with a keyboard, I use a Mayflash Gamecube>USB adapter. I use a program called xPadder to map my controller buttons to those of the games. This helps me easily defeat anyone, because my controls are that of Super Smash Brothers Melee. It's much better than the keyboard.
I hope you enjoy reading my application, I will answer any questions.
