He's obviously dead. Probably every cell in his body was ripped apart. I doubt Zetzu covered for him again. Also, unlike the fight with Bee/Raikage, we actually saw some of Kisame's backstory (like we do everytime someone dies).

Madara's Cloak just got ripped in a similar manner in how the Deva path got his ripped (whole arm revealed). If we go by the logic that an Akatsuki member dies after getting the clock ripped/removed, who thinks its possible Madara will actually die in this fight? Personally I think it would be cool, Konan would get major could points for killing him, however I'm sure Madara will win because Kishimoto will think it'd be retarded if he died now instead of having Naruto or someone important kill him and all the fans will rage otherwise.
