Why isn't phonetic spelled the way it sounds?

If a man is born deaf, what language does he think in?

1) If phonetic was spelled the way it sounds, it would be ironic. Kind of like if onomatopoeia was how it sounded as well. These aren't requirements for words, like how long isn't longer than small and palindrome isn't a palindrome.

2) We are taught to think in languages - it isn't a requirement. Babies think, but they know no "human language".

If god dies, what happens to the world?

A) A higher power created the world but doesn't care about what we do; ergo, he's the playwright, not the director. Alive or dead he means nothing to us and if he disappeared the world would be no different because he has no presence in it already.
