The Boeing B777-200 aircraft was carrying 227 passengers, including two children, and 12 crew members.

The Federal Aviation Administration reports missing at least one major passenger plane every year. I'm still trying to figure out why this incident is getting so much coverage though. Hopeful, this means more extensive searching for the craft, crew, and passengers is in progression. The sooner this mystery is solved, the better.

The real question is, doesn't the media have better things to cover than a missing plane? Out of probably hundreds or thousands, why this one?

because everybody who was on it is presumed dead (about 239 people) and it also started the largest search and rescue effort in history

I did have some long reply to my ignorance of current events, but because I just came out of under a rock and I'm tired I'll just start with saying it's been a while since I've been in an area that I can actually see news. Hence, under a rock. Cut me some slack.

I don't know whether to be inspired or depressed given the overwhelming number of people who are dying without needing to get lost on a plane.

Current events are depressing.

ugh, so i work in a bookstore and some f*** has already published a book called Flight MH370 where he "explains" what really happened and he's publishing it as fact and it's all s*** and it really annoys the s*** out of me. customers have been saying how ridiculous it is and frankly i'm not really interested in convincing them otherwise because it absolutely is.
