Don't listen to Ultima. Balancers play the game, and tell the devs how to balance the characters. Such as "Give this move more range." or "Change the landing lag for this character.". They do not sprite at all. The spriters sprite, the balancers balance. Get it?

This is what I mean by balancing. They don't sprite, they just make them not so overpowered and not so underpowered. I'm gonna make an example in Meta Knight. In Brawl, you could have no skill and just spam Tornado and deal a lot of damage. His attacks were also really fast, and you could sometimes not even dodge them. His smashes might have been weak, but that didn't stop him from racking up a lot of damage, and killing his adversaries. So, balancers should avoid creating a character that is broken. The Devs usually sprite.

This is definitely some good news. Someday if I were to try to be a balancer (I'm not sure yet), I could be confident that I wouldn't have to worry abut spriting. Thanks for making it clear for me!
