Yes, you could. But everyone had only two styles in that game instead of three as in Deadly Alliance & Deception.

After looking at some MK9 footage again, I hope this one is more balanced.

Since it says "multiple variations", I'm guessing it's going to be more similar to what was in Marvel Vs. Capcom 2; in that game, you could choose one of three modes for each character before the match depending on what you wanted them to do.

Those "modes" were assist, Capcom just decided to give them awkward names. The only change assist made to a character was the hyper they did during team hyper combos, their moves sets remained the same.

Well, characters having multiple movesets to choose from before the fight would still be an interesting idea. Since it says "variations of characters" and not fighting styles, I'm relatively confident that my guess will turn out to be correct.

Nah, son. Those game were fun for their style-switch combos. It's like some DMC4 stuff. Deadly Alliance: argued to be the best of the 3D MK fighters. Decently balanced overall. Parries are a great defensive tool. Choosing between Power-Ups and Breakers either do more damaging combos or to escape a combos is a nice risk/reward option. Only one real problem keeping this game from being played; there's a limit on how many pop-up juggles you can do in a single combos. This number is much lower on Player 2's side than it is for Player 1. Deception is still the only MK game to have had a scene in Japan. It's strange too since the game released in 2004 during the. . . " Great Depression of (Capcom) Fighting Games. . ." It's the only Mortal Kombat game they really took serious enough play in tournaments. It had a lot of changes It improved in some areas from DA, not kind of took a step back in others. Not as balanced but fixed many other problems from the previous game. And even though it was mildly played competitively, it had a lot of creative options that made it fun. Armageddon: . . .We don't talk about that game. . . Okay, a bit of talk; Armageddon is argued to be the "best developed," of the 3. I even hear a few top MK players this. Although with touch-of-death combos like this being possible, and the fact so many characters can do this same type of crap, I don't get how anyone can say that. That's like saying MvC3 is "well-developed."

Looks like this new game actually has new characters. The E3 trailer showed a tag-team character of short one riding on hulking guy, and some kinda insect queen who I'll be playing as.

Well, Injustice was suppose to be a test for some new mechanics NRS wanted to use for MK10. Which is nice as the interactive environments turned out better than expected. It also looks like they may have brought the trait system from Injustice into this game. And thank god, running is back! Gameplay video (since it wasn't posted): I don't like how the X-Ray animations are still long as hell. At least the new fatalities look interesting.

So we've got an Aztec guy, an insect woman, and a mutant man with a kid. They're nothing if not interesting, that's for sure. I'm looking forward to learning more about them (like their names).

The names of the new fighters are: D'Vorah (the insect queen), Ferra/Torr (The duo), Kotal Kahn (the Aztec warrior), Cassie Cage (the daughter of Sonya and Johnny). Kotal Kahn and Cassie Cage (with their respective fatalities) debut gameplay footage:
