The whip makes you very vulnerable, it would be worse if you could grab items.

Look, can this just be closed already? There is nothing to talk about that can't be talked about in the general smash topic. Just re-open this topic when Nintendo releases actual footage of Smash 4 and there is stuff to discuss.

Control them on the bottom screen / gamepad

It should have been Crash or Mike, but seeing Return to Dreamland, i would hope for one of the super abilities. If they choose one it would most likely be Ultra Sword as that is based on one of the most iconic abilities in the series.
