I like how you compared it to Yarn Kirby and Prime Samus.

1. Yarn Kirby appeared in one game. One spin-off. Paper Mario has had four games (from memory).
2. Prime Samus doesn't really differ from regular Samus at all.

Can we stop speculating please? I know it's nice to try to predict who is getting in, but it kind of gets annoying when nearly start flaming about small things like this.

There's nothing wrong with healthy speculation and discussion. Nobody's flaming anyone.

And I'm starting to think the same about Young/Toon Link. Was he ever truly needed to be playable? If him not coming back could mean someone like Ghirahim or someone else from Zelda could be playable, then I would be all for that.

Same could be said for Balloon Fighter, though. Maybe we'll get two retro reps?
But Balloon Fighter (arguably) is more well-known, but he kind of has a lacking potential for an interesting moveset.
.

As much as I would love Ghirahim as an addition, he's been in one game. Sure he was incredibly memorable, but recurring characters like Vaati have a higher chance than him. I do agree that there only needs to be one Link, though.

Because being well known has always been a factor...
Pit was out of game for 25 freaking years. Game and Watch wasn't particularly synonymous with Nintendo, either, along with being a composite character.
Movesets also aren't an issue. Captain Falcon was a guy in a car who turned into a flame spewing badass, Pikachu was given Headbutt when he couldn't use it before Melee, and Rest sure as hell isn't a killing machine. I've seen at least five people make a perfectly functional moveset for Balloon Fighter. He would work fine if they decided he would.

@Tid, we're probably past your speculations. We're just explaining by this point.

QFT

Movesets are never an issue. Where there is an imagination there is a moveset.

I would think ROB alone would be proof of that for most people

One thing that should be improved:
The other franchises need more representives.
(Earthbound is at 2, with 2 characters who are somewhat clones. F-zero is at 1.)
IMO Remove Toon Link Or Falco(Slightly edited versions of characters) and add in a Retro Character from a
game from the Nes/Snes (Castlevania, Contra, You know those games)
Now people are gonna rage about that, and how I didn't mention Lucas or Ness.
But this is because I feel that Toon Link could have a diffrent moveset, and Falco almost definately
can't have a custom moveset that isn't a clone.
With Ness And Lucas, a moveset can be done better. (Pk Rockin, Pk Love, ETC.)
Also, they could replace Lucas with Masked Man or Flint, who apparently won a official poll.
Also, because Namco is working on it, it could add some anime-type characters, like Detective Conan.
For a F-Zero Representive, it could be Samurai Goroh. While I don't think this is likely,
a Mortal Kombat Character or Maybe Megaman or Bomberman.

1. Why did you say Toon Link should be removed and then contradict that and say that you feel he could have a different moveset, basically saying 'oh we can fix this s***'?
2. Most of Fox's/Falco's attacks weren't even in the respective games. Blaster was introduced in the Star Fox series AFTER Super Smash Bros. Melee!
3. Why do you say that Ness and Lucas could be done better and you state examples as to how, but then you say that Lucas could be replaced (by less important characters)? f*** Pikachu, who needs Pikachu when you have f***' GEODUDE?
4. Why do you use Castlevania and Contra as an example when I'm p. sure they aren't Nintendo games? Like, I know Metal Gear Solid and Sonic are both third-party, but..
5. no anime no no no
6. Mortal Kombat what
