Hypest #23? Did you count all the cancelled tournaments too?

We have been counting since the first /r/smashbros tournament Capps hosted. The first one, not the rescheduled one (which the rescheduled one is wrongly labeled as Hypest 1, and as such all of the numbered Hypest events on the wiki are wrong).
It wasn't until Hypest 12 that they became weeklies.
It's apparent when you expand this list.

e~ Actually I noticed that the actual Hypest 1 is labeled and referenced as Yound 2. That was just the URL, and had nothing to do with the actual Yound event. Yound was a series of locals in North Carolina... and none of them had an SSF2 event.

We actually ran statistics and we get more than double the entrants on Sunday than Saturday because all of the "major" tournaments (Smash Island, X Series, ....can't really think of anything else) run on Saturday. I mean, X Series has a strong reservation on the last Saturday of every month.

Why don't people do some tournaments earlier? A tournament around 11:00 or 12:00 EDT would still get a lot of players. Personally I would be able to play in tournaments at these times much more often, but now that summer is nearly over that's not the case.
Now there are two tournaments starting within 45 minutes of each other!

Hypest SSF2 can't be on Fridays. That's Wii U day.

I see. I mean I personally wouldn't wake up at 7 in the morning to enter (or even organize such a thing, that's why X Series starts at 3 PST), but there are some players (Europe) who would because it's much earlier.

It's really hard when you have to cover twelve time zones.

Most of the players are in the US, so any tournament at or after 12:00 or 1:00 EDT is easy for US players. It's hard to make all of the time zones work but what I'm getting at is that nearly every tournament is between 4:00 and 7:00 EDT. If we spread it out then maybe more people could play. :)

Oh. Well then, looks like I have some things to change.

EDIT: Even after having factored in Yound 2 and the cancelled tournament on 7/25, I'm still coming up one short. I even went back to /r/smashbros just to check again, and only 22 Hypest events show up. Here's the full list of them:

  • Hypest 1 - October 18th, 2014
  • Hypest 2 - December 6th, 2014
  • Hypest 3 - January 14th, 2015
  • Hypest 4 - February 14th, 2015
  • Hypest 5 - March 1st, 2015
  • Hypest 6 - March 14th, 2015
  • Hypest 7 - March 22nd, 2015
  • Hypest 8 - April 5th, 2015
  • Hypest 9 - April 19th, 2015
  • Hypest 10 - May 3rd, 2015
  • Hypest 11 - May 17th, 2015
  • Hypest 12 - May 23rd, 2015
  • Hypest 13 - May 30th, 2015
  • Hypest 14 - June 6th, 2015
  • Hypest 15 - June 13th, 2015
  • Hypest 16 - June 20th, 2015
  • Hypest 17 - July 4th, 2015
  • Hypest 18 - July 11th, 2015
  • Hypest 19 - July 25th, 2015 (cancelled)
  • Hypest 20 - August 1st, 2015
  • Hypest 21 - August 9th, 2015
  • Hypest 22 - August 16th, 2015

Unless the non-rescheduled Hypest 2 is counted (or alternatively, there is a lost Hypest tournament that left the internet without a trace), there should be only 22 tournaments.

I see. I even checked myself and only counted 22 sans pre-rescheduled. That may be referred to as Hypest 2 and the rescheduled one as Hypest 3.

That was likely my logistic when I started counting the events, as I'm the only Hypest member to officially count the events.

Is the tournament of the 15th or 16th? The OP says 16th but Challonge has it for the 15th

I think that has to do something with your timezone. It says 16th for me.

Oh. I just wanna make sure because I signed up for it and don't want to miss it. So the time listed on the Challonge page is correct then?

In that case, I'm going to use the current numbering system, considering that both of our systems are broken.

If you have Challonge account, it should have the correct time zone for you, so Id recommend using that.
