Well if they do complete it, at least they can say they never dropped it, or whatever.

One more question, how does it feel to help develop a game that will never come out? Or is the release date still before brawl?

BREAKING: If a game is delayed, it will never come out.

I'm sorry, this game will be just like Duke Nukem, then.

Delayed for years and then s***.

BREAKING: If a product is delayed then released, it will be s***.

But another question, do you guys like/love/hate being devs?

It's really bittersweet. Because of the nature of the work I do (coding characters), I basically have to stay up until 5 am every night trying to iron out bugs and code new features. It's annoying, but there's no feeling like coding something that pushes the boundaries of your knowledge and then seeing it work perfectly.

And then there's having to deal with this constantly:

how does it feel, not doing your research?
ragging on a game made by people in their free time because the community made release date estimates that didn't make sense.
really valuable opinion there, thanks.
believe it or not, the six or seven of us that have stuck it out since day 1 are loyal, and keep this project alive. if we weren't making progress on SSF2, I wouldn't be up in the measly hours in the morning working on SSF2.
try getting an opinion of your own instead of dickriding false information from 3 years ago. it's f***, not 2008.

I believe the sense of accomplishment that comes with being a developer, and working with others around you toward the same goal, AND seeing the project grow, finalize, and become a genuinely enjoyable game (compared to years past) makes me personally feel really good. I mean, I haven't been here since day one. That doesn't falter me, though. I would say I am quite dedicated to the game, and I hope other developers would agree with me. Yes, it is a bother being weighted with the older generation's dev stereotype, but just like any racial stereotype, you need to remind yourself that is isn't true, and not to let yourself be effected by such words.

It will come out. We've made tons of progress and if you were actually looking instead of just assuming the team is as half-assed and argumentative as they were originally, you'd know that.

You know, I'm starting to think that the "SSF2 Dev" thing is like having a massive repsonsibility, contributing to the game, working hard to make it awesome and fun.
But then, you have good feelings about the result in the end like Geno said. Then like TSON said, you have to take s*** from stupid users that think the game is crap and will never come out, BTW Team Fortress 2 is awesome Belth.

I just hope neither of you guys will quit because of these stupid guys, it would make me sad to see someone leave because of that.
I really hope I'll be a dev someday, and take on these annoying users, the responsibility, and the joy at the end.

If other devs still have stories to share, feel free to tell us.

Well of course we're not going to quit. We'd just be proving everyone right by doing that. Plus it'd be stupid to have come this far and then just drop out.

That's very true, hold on, I'm gonna change the name of this topic.
EDIT: I added two more questions to the first post.

3. In all honesty, I have very high expectations. As we work on each demo, we start to feel like this is gonna be THE demo that just blows all the fans away, and yet somehow the demo after that always feels even bigger. It's hard to imagine what the full game will be like.
4. I do a LOT of character programming (probably only slightly less than TSON). I also sprite stages (saturn valley being what I'm most proud of right now in a demo) and find a lot of bugs.
