an easy way to check is to look at what demographic the game caters to
Bad art is still art. If games as a whole are an art form then every game is art

On a scale of "art" to "not art", Bayformers and Skrillex sit on the same side as Citizen Kane and Beethoven. Quality is not an indicator of art

But we have a thread about this in the video game section already

While I agree it's not quality that dictates whether something is defined as art I most certainly disagree that everything in music (as an example) should be defined as art just because IT IS music.

You are the first person I've ever seen to question whether music is an art form

Protip: It is

Ugh, we are obviously thinking on different terms. (No pun intended)
What I mean is that you can't just slap a big art label on something as vast as music or sound. Because video can be art, does that mean security camera footage of someone walking is art? Maybe, but it wouldn't just be because it's a video and everything that's a video is art.

I don't know whether you'd realise this but there are musicians who may have been playing for 20 years who would be reluctant to call their music art because they may consider it an entertainment product.

Exactly why you can't say everything in an entire medium is art and everything in this entire medium is not. I don't consider all music art.
Also, saying their opinions don't matter and then saying that art is only defined by someones perspective and opinion seems a little off.

Edit: Essentially, I think if someone's expressing themselves through music, that music is art. If they aren't. It's not art. Pretty simple.

It's not up to anyone. Of course it's subjective and differs from perspective. I gave my definition of art which, although irrelevant, is also a common definition of it culturally.
If you believe art is defined by the viewer and I think art is defined by the creator that's a difference in perspective. Perhaps manifesting as differing roles as consumers/producers.
I'm going to stick with my believe that expression in the creative process is what makes art, and you can stick to your beliefs on that topic.

video is a medium, not an art form

video =/= film
sound =/= music

That's a whole other ordeal altogether. It'd be best if you focused on the point about art.
But just the the record I don't draw those same imaginary line on that topic either.

That's exactly what this is, though?

If you don't want me to respond to an example, don't give a terrible example

That was ONE thing I said about it which you can't use the concept of because of a technicality of the details that sparks a different question. I made several other points after it that I think are valid and are devoid of that particular topic. Did you read the other posts?
