Its a forest, it should be a bit dark.

Or could it be at all possible that he isn't finished grass texturing, as one side is completely different from the other?

The light brown is to light making it look kind of bubbly and plastic like, try taking down the contrast a bit as well after fixing the light brown.

Ehh... I quickly added that color by just added a few adjustments.
Ignor that. Just a quick example on the style I may use.

Im not a fan of that bubbly texture either....

Like I said before, I wont be using that.
