This could be a way to eliminate trolls and spammers and such.
Perhaps their first 3 posts MUST be approved by a mod before they can post. If they are disapproved, then it does not post and they still need to get approved posts. Also, it would work in the way reported posts would work, where a message appears for something to be approved/disapproved. This will save mods far less time of tracking them down...that is, if other members do not report their posts.
Anyways, What do you think?

No. Do you honestly think that people can't write three non-dodgy posts before they start.
It would take more time and effort than it would save.

...I don't really see what you're trying to say. From what I can understand, you're arguing that they CAN post 3 posts before they start ACTUALLY posting....so again, I don't get your point.

Trolls who want to troll could easily make 3 posts that would be approved.
Also, it'd be way easier to just deal with those who do break the rules once they get around to it than having to test EVERY SINGLE NEW USER!

He means that they could just fake it and make 3 good posts before they start trolling and spamming.

Not if they don't know at first that their posts will be approved or disapproved (the only proof is this one topic, and I'm sure actual trolls won't take notice of it compared to the size of the forums)

...and after their first attempt you think they won't notice the techniques used and then create a new account?

They're just going to be nice for the first three posts, then start acting like morons. Besides, what mod wants to follow new users around, and what user wants to wait for someone to approve their post?

You all are missing the idea. He's saying he wouldn't know his first three posts would be modded.

Wouldn't be tough to figure it out if your post doesn't show up after clicking the post button, not to mention the existence of this topic >_>

It could work, after all, there is a post approval by moderator system in place but I would not for the life of me waste time tracking every newcomer who only wants to make a post or two about how SSF2 is awesome or words to that effect.

I thought phpBB already had something like this built in? On the subject, though, it's a stupid idea, trolls would catch on to it real fast, probably within the first two accounts, and bots only occur once in a blue moon. It'd actually be more disadvantageous to new users, and might turn some people away from the forum. Besides, no moderator wants to spend his time reviewing "LOLOL MAH NAME IS SONICRULZ9001 AND SUPERSMASHFLASH IS AWESOME " posts...

I think the system we currently have in place is adequate. They spam, we ban.
I do not intend to go look through the post approval system and the reports every time I log in....
