Also they do have recognizable moves. Making a good moveset isn't about jamming in as many references as possible.

The characters use clever adaptions of their signature moves that appropriate them for their character design in smashbros. The versions in the original game were designed for the original games, not for their smashbros interpretations. If he ddidn't change how they worked or adapted them then theyd be garbage.

Even so, he still could have said no. He's sending a mixed message there, he doesnt want to make the game, but he doesnt want it to be developed without him (its what it sounds like at least).

Well i was responding to the way Tid said it, just take the moves from the games, thats what made them recognizable in the first place, i dont mean take it directly from the game, but if it looks too different then its not the same move anymore. I dont mean that every move has to come from a game, but the majority of characters in Smash have only maybe 40% of their moveset come from the series. Which isnt a bad thing depending on the character, if they dont have much material to draw from then its understandable. But when you have characters that could have had a recognizable move in the place of one made up for Smash, then some people just wonder why couldnt they have just used the recognizable move instead.

Because those moves wouldn't have adapted well or had no potential. Not every move shoupd be a reference, only really special moves and then occasionally similar motions for smash moves.

And no he really didn't. He doesn't want the game he spent one year and a half of straight work on shamed by a crappy new installment.

But even special moves are a bit farfetched for some characters, like where the hell did they get Luigi's Green Missle from? To me it just looks like a cloned Skull Bash except for the fact that it has unlimited charge, and a misfire feature. Sure i cant think of a better one, but to clone even special moves for characters who are in no way similar is way beyond lazy.

Though i gotta admit, it does fit with Luigi's comical style.

Brawl is a good game in its own way, just cuz you may think Melee is better, doesnt make this one crappy. Though its your opinion and i respect it, i think that Brawl wasnt made to be better or worse than Melee, just its own game in the series.
