As you may know, a video showed up on the SSF2 stream at 2 AM on Sunday, prominently featuring Giygas. What nobody seems to know is what that video actually means. There was a lot of speculation that Giygas would be the final SSF2 Beta character, but Luffy disproved that. So, what do you think the actual meaning of the video is? Or is there a meaning at all?

Well it could still be possible of a new character still being in beta as unlockable. I mean its unlikely but seeing as that video showed up , them disproving it , It could still happen.

It could also be apart of a new solo mode or stage? The possibilities of that stream is endless.

I think it was just a red herring/attempt at a creepypasta and nothing else, myself.

I would be pissed if it was only that.
And I don't get the red herring thing.

red herring n. something, especially a clue, that is or is intended to be misleading or distracting.

I think the point was to get a ton of us to speculate that the newcomer would be an EB character in order to further blindside everyone when they made the actual reveal, and it worked.

A clue that is meant to drive the guesser into the wrong way.
Edit: Goddammit you won me to it

Oh.
Well damn.
I'm kinda sad that it actually was.
Unless it was actually meant for someting else that nobody has figured out yet.

If it actually did mean something, we may find out when the dev blogs continue. Because with everything in Vs. Mode* well and thoroughly covered now down to the last character, now we can get to the more unorthodox stuff.

I sorta knew the confirmation of a EB character was gunna be false but still. Maybe a hint at a single player campaign? Very unlikely but one can dream.

But that is alot of effort for a 15 minute video

It may be a stage, given how they showed a "Pokey Means Business!" remix when the stream was starting in Day 1.
I hope I'm wrong though, because I'd rather see something from MOTHER 1 or MOTHER 3.

^Magicant (3DS) is the incarnation from Mother 1. And it's one of the stages that would benefit most from the Hazard Switch. Just saying.

Now what could we get from Mother 3? Here are my options:

-New Pork City: Not the ugly version from Brawl, but rather a redesigned version that actually takes place in the city instead of in front of it. Of course smaller, and the only hazard it should retain is the pendulum platform. It also would no longer floating and would be on a mountain like it was in the original game.

-Thunder Tower: A stage high in the sky that takes place in a tower. The battle would take place on some platforms near the tower's top (since the top is completely spherical). With Hazards on, there would be an electric zap-cannon... thing... that shoots towards the secondary platfforms of the stage, electrifying them and making them innaccessible.

-Osohe Castle: The stage would take place inside a spooky castle, with fancy ghosts drinking wine and partying in the background, along some enchanted brooms moping and cleaning the floor. The stage's background wouldd show a window showing a garden with one of the Seven Needles. With hazards on, Mr. Passion (one of the bosses you find in the 2nd chapter) would appear and throw several pieces of damaging furniture towards the players, even the sink.

Any of those three would be fine, that, or bring back the Rope Snake cameo in Saturn Valley :chibirobo:

If we're getting something from a Mother game, it's likely a Mother 3 stage or Lucas.

Why?

If you jump to 30 seconds in there's the text box that says

(You feel a soft breeze.)
(It smells like sunflowers.)

For those that don't know, sunflowers are very critical imagery in Mother 3, as they represent Lucas' family, Hinawa in particular.

The music is also from MOTHER 3, albeit unused.

That said, virtually every other element of the video comes from EarthBound, so maybe it's not the best indication of exactly which game we're talking about here...
