I didn't like Dark Pit that much myself either but I feel like you're forgetting one thing here;


A characters personality doesn't neccesary carry over to their moveset. As a matter of fact, lots of characters have personalities and moves made up just for Smash. You don't like the character itself, that's fine, it really is. But that doesn't mean the character can't be interesting in Smash. He is (most likely) added because Sakurai and his team saw potentional in the character

however

I can't really comment on it yet, since he is not officially confirmed and thus we've seen no gameplay. His playstyle could literally be anything. I'd be dissappointed if he wielded Palutena's Bow with Pit's moveset as well though. If you don't want to buy Smash because Dark Pit is in it then suit yourself really, either way's the same to me.

If anything I'm glad that more anti-heroes/villains are added. But what I dislike is that his design won't add to the aesthetical diversity. Even Mario and Luigi and Samus and Dark Samus are aesthetically super different.

You ignore all of my other points just to target the one you can most easily attack, and then openly declare that's exactly what you're doing. First you say Lucina and Zamus are making you not want to get the game. Now you're saying Dark Pit's making you not want to get the game. Just admit you never intended on getting it in the first place, and stop complaining about something you have zero interest in.

Speaking of things you're not interested in:
You've never played Kid Icarus Uprising in your life, so all you know about Dark Pit is that he's an evil twin and he's snarky. He's a manifestation of Pit's subconscious feelings; that's the purpose of the Mirror of Truth. He's not even evil, you twit, he's just rebellious.

If he's going to have a unique move set then i'm all for it. I have a feeling that's not the case though. Time will tell.

He's lumped with the clones, so he's not going to have one.

Why though? If it's a different character if much rather prefer him be his own character. Like Lucina being her own character.

Because Dark Pit has an almost identical character model to Pit (obviously). With Lucina she has Marth's move set, but her model is completely unique, so it would make less sense to make her an alt for Marth. Dark Pit is literally just a color change, it just makes more sense to me for him to be an alternate skin for Pit. If Dark Pit gets to be his own character, why does Dark Link and Dark Samus only get to be a skin?

Those other characters do not.

I don't think Dark Link is a fair comparison. Dark Pit may only be a "color change", but he has a personality, and ends up being one of the main characters in KI:U. Dark Link always only shows up for a mini boss fight and then dips.

I personally don't think it matters that him and Pit are only a color swap and facial expression away. I'm sure they'll capture his demeanor and they'll be easy to tell apart. I just see it as giving us more characters to play as.

I do too, but my only problem with it is the thought that if he wasn't included as a separate character, maybe we could've had someone else. Then again there's no way of knowing if that's true or not.



What makes you say that?

Dark Samus could theoretically have different moves, what with the Phazon and all, but Dark Link is literally just a reflection of Link; he has all the weapons and skills that Link has.

Anyway so little time was likely put into Dark Pit that it was gonna be him or nothing. He didn't replace your favorite character. He's purely bonus

Same as Dr. Mario and Lucina. Being upset about them is just dumb. Being upset about one but not the others is even dumber

edit for clarity: if he'd been replaced it would've been with another clone. if it had been Dark Link or Dark Samus they would've used the same moves as Link and Samus with some slight changes to the properties, just like Lucina. I can see preferring one idea to another but in terms of clones Dark Pit isn't a bad choice

I know Dark Pit will make it into the game and he will be the most broken character in the game.

Because he has his own character slot. If he was the exact same character he wouldn't.


The way you can know that's not true is because his model (and likely some of his attacks) is virtually the same as Pit's, so he takes less development time. It's the same as it was for every other similar character. It's not like if they didn't put in Dr. Mario they could have used that time to add Ridley or whatever.

Why must I credential myself every time I decry the inclusion of a character? None of the other characters were relevant to the discussion. I've discussed ZSS and all the other characters I have a distaste for already.

Having Dr. Mario is stupid because we already have Mario. They don't have enough differences to warrant separate characters.
Lucina is... passable upon further consideration, but the fact that she's a clone is still s***.
Zero Suit Samus is a cheap sexploit.
Dark Pit's personality doesn't make him any less of a cookie-cut. He's the worst addition in the game.
The Duck Hunt Dog is f*** beyond explanation. If he was an AT, it would be cute.
Bowser Jr. would have been unnecessary to begin with, but they gave him that stupid clown car.
Rosalina's only saving grace is that she has Luma. Otherwise, cookie-cut princess.
Wii Fit Trainer is absolutely asinine in the same vein as the dog.

There. Eight reasons not to get the game. I'm probably forgetting one or two.

Oh yeah. The Villager. f*** the Villager. More generic characters.
And f*** Robin, too. Way to overrepresent a franchise that doesn't deserve it in the least.

Why do actually good fighting games like Street Fighter not have Dr. Guile?
