Anyway, I suppose consistency is best. I wonder how strong the indicationsa are that they threaten livestock, in Germany there are very little problems with wolves (a different species, so hence I wonder about the facts).

Wolves aren't a significant problem in most of the U.S.
Coyotes, on the other hand, constantly f*** up everything

It probably has to do with people feeding them.

Of course it gets funny when the coyote has a severe case of mange, then people go shouting "Chupacabra!".

I don't know what kind of idiot would try to feed a coyote. Most of the stuff they do has seemingly nothing to do with food, like getting into housing developments

Probably tourists would feed them. They lose their fear of humans and enter the suburbs. It usually follows something like that pattern.
