That feels weird for gameplay to me. I'm a bit iffy on the idea. Normally, I feel like if fan games saw this, they'd use this type of thing to their advantage.

It's kinda like that but slightly different; in Marvel vs Capcom 3, for example, Peter Parker will appear as a background cameo if Spider-Man isn't selected on either team. If Spider-Man is selected however, the Parker cameo won't appear. In Smash 4, conducter Link won't appear as a background cameo if Toon Link is selected as a combatant.

I am slowly starting to like the 3DS version's art style more and more with each new screenshot.

My brother just brought up the idea that this type of thing opens the door for many other characters to return like Variti from Kid Icarus. Probably not someone like Balloon Fighter though. I can't remember more though..

I kinda hope that Mario, Donkey Kong, Luigi, Bowser, Peach and Rosalina will be driving the karts on the Rainbow Road stage if they're not around to fight, but considering they have already shown Shy Guys, I doubt they will.

It's Viridi. Are you refering to playable characters or background characters? because Viridi, seems to be a background character or even more, a stage element, but not a playable character.

Yeah, I meant maybe if she was playable, someone else would take her role as a background character like in this situation. Seems possible.

Oh I see, like Alfonzo replacing Toon Link when he's on the match, but I don't see Viridi as a playable character, in such case Palutena is the most suitable.
