That's amazing! Congrats on him. --------------------------------------------------------- So, after a couple rough months (where I got paid much later than the date my contract states), I had a talk with the boss/founder of the tech firm I work on, and they pretty much confirmed they are barely staying afloat for any longer. They confirmed they can commit to pay my salary in time until November, but can't make promises after that. They apologized in advance and told me they have no issues if I decide to jump ship. Considering we're two weeks away from deploying our most ambitious project yet, I'm not going to part ways immediately, but it seems like the time has come. It was my first job as a web developer and I learnt a ton, but my graduation is bound to happen soon (final exam upcoming) so it might be a good time to expand my scope and search a better job opportunity in other parts of the country. Or who knows, maybe abroad

So, alot of stuff happened at school this week: 1) The blood bank arrived today. We had a last minute assembly in which the people of the blood bank told us the benefits and goodwill of giving blood and showed us a powerpoint which showcased the process of giving blood being much nicer than it really is. So some people started running around with pins and needles and decided to randomly stab people in a mock process of collecting blood, and when I got caught really deep in the back of the neck I panicked as I was thinking that the people at the blood bank had become a little impatient, as barely anyone was willing to donate. 2) My mate Harry tripped the fire alarm at the end of recess yesterday. Our friend group was walking to our next class down a hallway which had a fire alarm with the glass already broken, so one of his mates said "Oi, you know if you quickly flip the switch on then off, the alarm won't go off!" Me and a couple of other guys tried to dissuade him out of it, showing a similar story with a lightswitch and how once the circuit is complete the effect will trigger immediately, but since Harry's quite a blockheaded bloke, he was like "Oh, ok then, it can't be too bad" and so the big bastard flicked the switch. To cut a long story short, he ended up with 10 hours community service, suspension from school for a week and got put in isolation for the rest of the day. Such fun. 3) My mate Callum is one of the top 3 candidates for Board of Trustees representative, and so the school has to vote him or one of two other girls to be the voice for our school. Honestly his chances aren't looking too good (the other two girls are these popular, all star students who are good at pretty much every single subject, sport and art), and his campaign speech was barely two sentences, but I'm going to try and rile everyone in my year to vote for Callum (since the two other girls are in the above year and so that year will be split, competing amongst themselves) and literally win by quantity over quality. It's been pretty successful this far, so hopefully my shameless advertising boosts him to victory. 4) We had an MCAT (Maths Common Assessment Task) NCEA exam last week, which apparently included stuff from Year 13 that we were never taught and thus was insanely hard, so much so that schools across the whole country reported to NZQA (the dudes who makes these exams) about it. It was even on the news, and of course there were reports of students "so stressed that they were at the point of suicide." Like come on, this isn't f*** China. 5) I signed up as a camp leader in a Year 9 wilderness training camping trip to a mountain in the middle of nowhere called Mount White, and we're leaving tomorrow. The trip is 3 days long, and we'll be doing fun stuff such as cave streaming and hiking to a remote waterfall. The only thing I'm a bit concerned about is that from what I hear there are sandflies everywhere, and my blood is like candy to the likes of those creatures. So I'll be packing 20 cans of Raid along and I'll emerge unscathed. Luckily camp leaders are allowed to visit a WiFi hotspot that's about a 15 minute walk from base camp so I'll still be hanging around social media from time to time. Oh and lastly, I slipped on a banana peel. My legs were covered in so much blood that the teacher literally bulldozed me out of class and drilled me towards the sick bay. Absolutely fantastic.

I got a text message from my mate who works at Macca's (McDonald's) down the street saying that a female customer cut open their wrists in the bathroom after ordering a Big Mac combo from him, and that after the police came and took her away he was tasked to mop up the blood. I guess I'm glad that I'm away from home now.
Anyways, camp is going well so far, did alot of fun recreation stuff, though I was tasked with cleaning out and dumping the s*** from the long drops today, so that was gross. All the s*** is thrown off the edge of a cliff into a giant pile, so my mate decided it would be a good idea to push me towards the tip of the ledge. Luckily I managed to catch my balance and not fall to my literally s*** death. Us camp leaders got to sleep in a cabin for the first night but now we gotta go pitch up some tents, so hopefully the sandflies don't bite. Unfortunately though I forgot to bring any bug spray, so I'm hoping foot spray is a good substitute.

Guys, never use foot spray as an insect repellent replacement. It apparently does the opposite of what is intended. So I got back from camp with exactly 88 sandfly bites all over my body, smashing the school record (yeah apparently my school keeps track of who gets the most sandfly bites from that cursed place as a joke, the previous record holder had 71). About 7 of those bites are on my nether regions, and some of them are bites within already existing bites. The worst part was that we had to go tramping for 4 hours along a river and so the rocks there ended up cutting my skin, resulting in several of my bites being susceptible to infection. It didn't help that my sweat droplets made them sting like hell, and it was literally the most painful experience I've ever felt in my entire life. I'm gonna go take a salt bath now.
