My computer isn't doing stuff.

I didn't say reformatting, though, I said use it to boot to windows, I thought all windows discs could be used as mobile operating systems by now? Anyway, if it's really just outright rejecting the disc, hardware issue, s*** outta luck.

I bet it's just going to reject anything he throws in there; however, it's worth a try if he still has the disk.

7 is without question better than XP. It's obviously an issue with the hard drive, and it's very unlikely that it has anything to do with the OS being used.

Step 1: Get new harddrive.
Step 2: Get Ubuntu 12.04 LTS
Step 3: Install Ubuntu 12.04 LTS
(or at least that's what I did)
