The Project STEAM integration worries me tbh
Cosmetic stuff is fine and all, but actual characters you can only unlock with figures?
It's just glorified DLC at that point, no question about it. Hope it doesn't set a trend.

Yeah, I'm not too fussed on the way it's working in the new Kirby game either. Very pay-to-win.

Mario series Luigi looks way better but Smash series Mario is a lot better imo
Either way I don't really want any of the Mario series ones
Hopefully Waluigi gets an Amiibo in the future, that's a day one purchase f***
Still waiting on those hi-res scans of the wave 4 Smash ones
edit:
Regarding Steam it doesn't bother me much because of the way the integration is handled but I agree that I don't want it to become a big trend
Regarding Kirby I don't think the term pay to win really applies to single player games

I think it kinda does. Even if you're not doing it to compete they're letting you pay money to beat the game easier, which I think is really really poor integrity honestly.

I don't mind the Fire Emblem characters in Project Steam that much tbh- the characters play no role in Story Mode and they are just included as a form of fanservice in my opinion. What would be best is if said characters were regular DLC and your Amiibo unlocked them for free though.
I agree that the way it's incorporated into Kirby's Rainbow Curse sucks though.

But when you buy an Amiibo you get that figure for life unless you lose it, sell it or break it. So in a way you pay once for the DLC then get free other DLCs in other games.

pay to win in a single player game is trashy but I don't think it's really an awful thing since it only hurts the experience of that one player. Like, if you're dumb enough to buy the figure just for that then be my guest
My only issue with the figures being like DLC is the availability
If Nintendo continues dropping the ball with the future Amiibos like they have the first two sets, f***' nobody outside of a handful of dedicated Internet nerds will ever get to experience the Steam/Fire Emblem thing
I know they're new to really widespread toy distribution but goddammit if they're gonna do this they need to figure out how to make enough figures to meet demand, you know?
