discuss the upcoming sequel to Rayman Origins here

Old news: show
So if you have been following Rayman Legends, you probably know what's been going on lately. For those who don't know, i'll give you the scoop:

Apparently, Ubisoft has heard from playstation and xbox gamers that they want Rayman Legends to come out as a "Multiplatform" game. Rayman Legends was originally intended to be multiplatform but then got pushed to a Wii U exclusive since the current Wii U library was clearly suffering in exclusive titles.

Rayman Legends got delayed to February 28 2013 because they couldn't finish the game in time. And just when everything came to an agreement and they got the Wii U version completely finished for it's February 28 release, Ubisoft decided to drop the ball on this one and brought the developers to complete frustration.

Taking the voice of playstation and xbox gamers into consideration, Ubisoft has decided to delay the game until September... Not to finish up the game and/or polish it, not to add extra content... The only reason it got delayed again is because they want it now as a "Multiplatform" game. This also means that the Wii U version is also getting pushed to September. Ubisoft also mention that because of this, they will make it up to Wii U owners by giving them another exclusive demo and that they will make the developers try to work on more content for the game.

Now for most of Wii U gamers: This is bad news. This is not the problem however. According to developers and the creator himself, this means that they have been working their asses non-stop for 6 months to work and finish the game without ever getting to see their relatives, wives, or kids. A rayman legends developer has written his frustration in spanish as a NEOGAF member translated it and the following was written:

Quote:
I completely understand you but you have to understand one thing. This is not a decission taken by the development team, this comes from really really high up, so please don't pick on the game.

If you're pissed, imagine how we feel. Think on the situation, we've been making overtime with this game practically since May preparing E3, and then almost a demo per month (gamescon, Wii U presentation, shops, eShop, etc...) and at the same time trying to actually finish the game. We had a first delay because it was obvious we couldn't finish on time but we gave it all to be there on February. What face do you think we had when the week we had to close the game we're being told it's not going to be released? I couldn't believe it.

For practical matters, you'll have to wait for some months for the game to be released and will most likely serve for more content to be added and do it better. For us, this means we've spent 6 months barely seeing our wifes, kids, and friends for nothing because, after all, such a haste wasn't needed. Believe it, it was a hell to swallow these news.

Even then I'm firm in what I said back in the day, Rayman Legends is an excellent game and will still be, and the team that's making it doesn't deserve to have your back turned on them just because some men in ties one day took a wrong choice. This industry is really that s***

That's not all. Apparently, fellow developers and Rayman Legends Creator Michel Ancel has decided to protest against the delay of the Wii U version of Rayman Legends.

The poster features an image of a tearful Rayman surrounded by the words: "Release Rayman. Support Ubisoft Montpelier."

This is quite one of the worst decisions Ubisoft has ever pulled out of their asses and right now, there's attacks from all corners not on Rayman Legends but on Ubisoft itself.

Discuss

Don't forget that the new release date for Rayman is at the same time as Grand Theft Auto 5.

Ubisoft confirmed for hates money.

Shouldn't this be [G]?

Anyways, I'm not too sure if this is a stupid stunt to get Wii U owners to buy the game because of "Their victory", if they go back to the old release date.

I played the demo, the rhythm level was so fun!
The touchscreen part was annoying though.
I'm totally buying this game, it's going to be my first Rayman game.

Don't know how this one got bumped but okay...

I placed the old news about the whole multi-platform thing in a box. If anyone wants to discuss Rayman Legends, feel free to do so

Well here some recent news since it hasn't been said yet here:

Because of the release delay, the Wii U version is going to get 30 exclusive levels added and new bosses.

http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/04/11/ ... new-levels

So, something good does come out of this delay for Wii U onwers. Probably going to end up as DLC for PS3/360, but that is still more content than what was original planned.

So did anyone get the Rayman Challenges app? I find it very addicting, getting ranks is so much fun.
