Bowser created a sun or star that could only be sustainable by a Grand Star, but when Mario retrieves it for good, Bowser's sun couldn't hold by itself and implodes into a singularity creating a massive black hole that started consuming all the Mario universe. Before everything and everyone is doomed, the Lumas (a.k.a Destellos) launch themselves into the mbh, destroying it but sacrificing themselves in the process. This also created a super nova (or a Big Bang-like) that helped the Mario universe to be recreated again but not as the same. That's why Mario said "Welcome, welcome new galaxy!" This fact is not ficticious, when stars die, they become dust that can allow new stars to be born.

Okay but thats stupid to use the way stars are reborn again, when the planets are too. Planets do not form again. Unless like you said, it was a big bang like phenomena.

My 1800th post!!That where the Mario's fiction enters, the Lumas destroyed the black hole, but if you played the game, you should know Lumas can tranform into planets too.

Mario Kart 7 is slightly better in my opinion, since it has online. But they are both really great games.

Only 290 star medals are needed for all the levels. However you can get up to 999 of them through streetpass-ing those mystery boxes.
