K, so I wanted to watch the .Hack series and just wanted to know: Which series comes first/Does it matter which is first?

Legend of Twilight is a retelling of SIGN if I remember correctly.

The one with the child (avatar) protagonists? Thought it was the second version of The World, then G.U comes afterwards.

It has something to do with SIGN, but I forget exactly what.

1.) .hack//AI Buster 1+2 ^{(Books that begin the story.)}

2.) .hack//Sign ^{(Anime that happens directly after the second AI Buster novel.)}

3.) .hack//Roots 1-4 ^(Books) / .hack//XXXX ^(Manga) / .hack//Infection, .hack//Mutation, .hack//Outbreak, .hack//Quarantine ^{(Games on PS2 that happen five years after Pluto's Kiss, a virus that destroyed the internet before the Altimit OS was created. The Roots books and manga each have timelines detailing the events of Pluto's Kiss, so it's easy to figure out where they stand.)}

4.) .hack//Liminality ^{(Anime that comes packaged with the Infection-Quarantine games. It takes place during these events.)}

5.) .hack//Legend of the Twilight Bracelet ^{(Both manga and anime take place three years after the Infection-Quarantine games.)}

6.) .hack//Conglomerate or .hack//G.U. ^{(Manga, anime, and PS2 games that are the last in the series. It also does away with the previous games and canon almost entirely, with the exception of Kite. When the old version of The World is destroyed in a fire, the recovered data is merged with a current game and The World R:2 is born. At this point, it goes downhill. I recommend sticking with the previous titles.)}

He was Subaru's personal guard and captain of the 13th squadron of the Crimson Knights, in .hack//SIGN. Of course he's a f***' badass. Hell, he even logs in during LOTT to fight off Kamui and her annoying Cobalt Knights. That takes balls.

By the way, which one did he first appear in?
