I agree he's somewhere around #8 in Melee but he's no lower than #5 in brawl if you know what you're doing

He should pretty much be close to dead last every time lol

I mean, he's not a terrible fighter
he's really balanced, not too weak, not too slow, kinda like mario

he was pretty good in brawl though, i totally kicked a** with him online

Why Link deserves his placings:

SSB: Fast, and powerful, smash and aerial attacks, reliable ranged attacks, good to amazing* recovery, great air game, perfect special air game, great throws, amazing knockback, and perfect ground game.

His Smash Attacks can attack any opponent in any given direction, as in F-Smash can hit backwards, upwards and forwards and U-Smash can trap a character from the front. His F-Air can also attack from, pretty obviously, behind him, yet also giving great damage. His N-Air gives amazing knockback and damage, his B-Air will trap and give incredible knockback to an opponent. His U-air is a reliable kill move, as well as his D-air. His bombs can be thrown, and literally a split second later, he can pull out a second one to throw, only if you Jump>Throw Bomb>Pull Out>Repeat. His boomerang has amazing range, and if it misses, pull out a bomb, throw it, and let the boomerang hit the opponent, then take the opportunity to grab the opponent and B-Throw.

SSBM: Good air game, fast and powerful smash attacks, reliable D-Air, amazing recovery, reliable ranged attacks, great ground game, good throws, great knockback. Only offset by his grab, aerial attack length, and special attack power, as well as his weight and easiness to juggle.

SSBB: Amazing Ground game, good air game, sudden F-air, fast and powerful attacks, great recovery**, great knockback, amazing Smash attack knockback, fast aerial attacks, and heavy weight. Offset by fast-falling, weight, and size, as well as grab, Tilt attacks, special attack power, loss of infinite stab and semi-spiking USpec.

*=He can have amazing recovery if shot more vertically while holding a bomb, or having high enough damage for the bomb to launch him enough.

**=USpec>Bomb Explode>USpec>Tether Grab

i was trying to say that from all the experience playing with him, I know he's not as bad as some people make him out to be

And I'm saying that your anecdotal experience doesn't mean anything when its pretty clear from actual data that Link is one of the worst characters in the game.

well this isn't an RPG, actual data doesn't matter

as long as the player has skill, a character can be good -- something that's been proven many times with those so called 'bottom tier characters'

Just because a character is low tier doesn't mean the character will never win.

But if equally skilled players were to play a match a character from a higher tier would win, in theory.
