here's my character. (note: this character is based off for kingdom hearts.)
Name: Starlight

Gender: Female
Appearance: Short, brown hair with spikes to her left. Dark brown eyes. Lightly colored skin. Short and slim build.
Clothing: Short, black top with zipper. A velvet scarf. Baggy cloth pants with double belts. Black shoes with buckles. Checkered bracelet on her left arm.
Ability: Starlight can cast magic by concentrating energy from her heart. She can cast spells such as Fire, Heal, Blizzard, ect.
Weapon: The keyblade is a type of sword in the appearance of a key. The keyblade can take many shapes and sizes as well as alter its abilities and strengths. The following keyblade forms belong to Starlight. Kingdom key (the most basic) Lady luck (a keyblade with abilities to harm foes) Olympia (a heavy keyblade with formidable strength) lion-heart (a Keyblade that draws out the ability of speed) pumpkin head (a keyblade that can reach farther) one winged angel (a keyblade of great potential, very deadly) redemption (a keyblade that draws out the weilders personality) oathkeeper (a keyblade radiant with light) oblivion (a keyblade black as darkness) two become one (a keyblade formed when the wielder is in dire times) ultima weapon (the greatest of keyblades, with a wealth of abilities) Wayward of the wind (a keyblade of prime speed) Elegance of fire (a keyblade radiant with heat strong enough to melt anything.)
Personality: kind, immature, brave, strong hearted, righteous, and short tempered. Starlight likes to eat meat and enjoys sparring. she hates feeling weak and helpless.
Biography: Born on Destiny islands, Starlight grew up while getting accustomed to living alone with her parents. As being the only three people on the island, Starlight never knew what friendship meant, until two people washed up on shore. A boy named Darkstar, and a girl named Rin. The three made great friends, until one day. Darkness started to find its way to the islands, and Darkstar was the first to fall to its influence. Starlight was unaware of the Darkness, until her parents were killed in front of her by shadow like creatures. Angered, Starlight awakened her ability to wield the keyblade, and used it to wipe out the creatures. During a brutal storm, Darkstar was found in the beach, carrying an unconcious Rin on his arm. Starlight tried to save both from a massive wave, but failed, and all three islanders were swept away from the island, in their own paths. The three were taken to different worlds, with their own destinies. Starlight wanted to find both of her friends and return to the islands, but Darkstar wanted to use the darkness to drag everything with him into it. Darkstar gained the ability to use a keyblade, and the two friends dueled. Starlight won the battle, eliminated the darkness within Darkstar, and saved Rin from the creatures known as heartless. The three returned to the islands, but soon after, Darkstar went missing. Starlight went on a second quest to find him, but during her travels, an old evil rose from the shadows, one called the Unversed. The leader was a single man named Vanitas. He killed countless heartless and innocent lives to create a power known as Kingdom hearts. With the power fully obtained, Vanitas needed an heir to continue the wrath of Kingdom hearts, so he chose Starlight to be his queen. Starlight refused and the two clashed their keyblades, again and again, until Starlight finally succumbed to fatigue and blood loss, and was killed. Following her death, Starlights nobody and heartless went separate paths. Darkstar went to find Starlights heartless, and when he found it, the two clashed, until Darkstar finally got through to the heartless, and brought back Starlight. Meanwhile, Starlights nobody found her way to the world that never was. She joined Organization XIII, a group of nobodies whose main goal is to create a second Kingdom hearts for themselves, and use it for supreme power against keybladers. Starlights nobody was given the name Alexia, and was sent on missions to battle heartless, and collect hearts with her keyblade to build Kingdom hearts. Unlike other nobodies, Alexia grew a mind of her own and rebelled against the organization, running away. She soon encountered Rin, who told Alexia of Starlight. Alexia later met Darkstar, as he tried to persuade Alexia to reunite with Starlight, and become whole again. Alexia refused, claiming she wants to be herself, and the two clashed, with Darkstar leaving victorious, but only by using his inner darkness to win the battle. After Alexias defeat, Starlight re-awakened to find herself in Destiny islands. She remembers about Vanitas and his plan, and sets off to finish what he started. Starlight encounters Vanitas again, this time, Starlight now has more than one Keyblade form with her. The two enter a black void and the battle resumes. Starlight finally defeats Vanitas and destroys Kingdom hearts. Soon after, Starlight and Darkstar meet, this time, Darkstar tells Starlight about Organization XIII and their plans. Starlight goes on a final mission to defeat the Organization, and destroy their false Kingdom hearts. On her way, Starlight and Alexia cross paths and Alexia wants to test Starlights true strength. The two battle in a black space atop of a tower. Alexia nearly gains the upper hand of the fight by dual wielding keyblade. Alexia nearly defeats Starlight until Starlight attacks from behind, instantly defeating Alexia. Before the two leave the tower, Alexia places her hand on Starlights shoulder, saying “so you're the one he told me about.” after that, Alexias body enters Starlights, making them whole again, and giving Starlight the ability to dual wield her keyblades. Starlight finally reaches the Organization and battles them all, defeating them one by one. Starlight finally reaches the Organizations leader, as is also greeted by Darkstar, who is battling the leader, and Rin is also there, holding her own keyblade, and assisting in battle with healing magic. The leader, named Raxou, knocks out Rin, and leaves Darkstar with an injured arm. Starlight steps up to dual Raxou and draws out her two Keyblades, Oathkeeper and Oblivion. In a great battle, Starlight finally defeats Raxou with a stab to his heart. With the false Kingdom hearts destroyed, and Organization XIII eliminated, the three friends return to the islands once again, living in peace.

Just a tip on making an interesting a fancharacter, rather than simply replacing established characters with your own in an unoriginal and uncreative fashion, find a way to bring your character into the world in a way that doesn't disrupt the established universe, and how they reacted to certain events that have already occurred in the game world.

right, sorry. I already have an original background for this character but I decided "why not, lets have her replace sora from the KH series."

It's nothing to be sorry about, it's just that when you make an original background, it's all the more better. ^.^

And maybe give her some unique talents?

Don't be ridiculous, Nixter. Talents became obsolete as a form of currency centuries ago.
