You know, there's a reason why the Falcon Punch is legendary...

I play quite a few characters, but for whatever reason I'm always MK whenever I get a ZSS and the matchup SUCKS.

It isn't all bad. Aside from a few moves, you outrange ZSS. Additionally, she has a recovery that isn't too hard to edgeguard, is pretty comboable due to how tall she is, and has a weakness against juggling, which you can do quite well.

Actually Zelda's pretty mobile in this demo. She also has tons of reliable KO options that allow her to close off the opponents stocks pretty early. Actually Zelda kinda whoops Falcon in this demo tbh.

From the games I played against Starkiller2, edgeguarding Zamus as MK is nigh-impossible. Zamus has two recovery mixups - high and low - but MK's vertical speed isn't fast enough to cover both. I think the matchup is 50/50 though. Zamus has just as much trouble closing off stocks as MK does.

All of Zelda's kill moves(except UAir and Up Smash) are horizontal so she can kill Falcon at like crazy early percents. Not to mention he's one of the 2 characters she can chaingrab hardcore. She also out-prioritizes most of Falcon's ground game, with Down Smash being the ultimate anti-rushdown weapon. Also Falcon is a big heavy weight. So it's basicallya game of "See how many Lightning Kicks I can land"

Why is all of this in the Meta Knight topic? lol
Meta Knight could win a tournament by almost exclusively using nair, 'nuff said.

Someone really likes Zelda apparently. As for MK's nair, yeah, it's awesome. But it can also be shield grabbed, especially by DK, who is a pretty decent counter if played correctly. MK still suffers from not having great KO moves outside of nair, and the dair and uspec nerfs haven't been easy to adjust to. Getting better with them, though.

Despite the D-nair nerf you can still use it for a tech chase mix up to catch your opponent off guard. You can also combo of up b with Down throw on certain stages like battlefield/yoshi's story since sliding on platforms in ssf2 is automatic. After playing a lot more matches online. I take back saying metaknight deserves his own tier. He's still really viable in SSF2. I'd say he's either top high tier or low top tier. Metaknight barely has any bad matchups though. His bad matchups are DK since the entire match depends on you spacing your self from DK as much as possible and believe me it's hard since DK has ridiculous hitboxes, super armor with his dash attack and dk punch, and ridiculous killing power. One screw up and you lose a stock. Another Bad matchup would be ichigo since he basically has long attack range not as bad as DK but its ridiculous. Not to mention Side b is uber Stupid and undodgeable. And then you have the worst matchup for metaknight being samus. What makes Metaknight Samus a terrible matchup? Well one samus is one of the hardest characters to combo. Two she has an uber good projectile game and since metaknight doesn't have projectiles and his attacks don't have invincibility like in brawl this puts metaknight in a very bad situation. But the worst thing for metaknight is samus's bomb's. Once metaknight gets close enough to samus.. Samus can instantly just pull out a bomb and then follow that up with a down air and then follow up with some other attacks thanks to her increased air mobility. This will do a lot of damage to metaknight and put immediately to K.0 percentage. Not to mention edgeguarding samus is almost impossible since she has that power grapple which has a lot of range. When playing against Samus with metaknight you literally have to change your playstyle and be more evasive and make sure not be hit by Samus's projectiles. I would putt more bad matchups in here but that would need a whole nother thread altogether. Still despite the nerfs and the bad matchups meta knight is still a really good character. He's pretty easy to pick up if you've played him in Brawl/Project M. he may not be up there with the likes of DK and ichigo but he's definitely a character to be noted when it comes to competitive SSF2 and is definitely not low tier.

So basically his two bad matchups outside of Samus are the only two characters who are absolutely in need of a nerf. I can get with that. As for Samus, I think you need to get in there and scrap with him. All of MK's attacks are faster, so stay close and if it means eating the occasional bomb, so be it. It would take around 13-14 bombs to get you into KO territory, assuming that's all he's landing. MK is useless at a distance and right in Samus' wheelhouse. Hopefully I can test out the matchup more online and learn some tricks. I've definitely beaten Samus' online with MK but I agree that it's difficult.

I feel like MK needs ether a power buff, or needs to get his old dair back.
Donkey Kong practically owns MK onstage, alot. He outranges MK, outkills him, combo's the heck outta him, and pretty much gimps him as well (those meteor smashes tho). Since MK's KO options are very very slim, he can't do much with his attacks. Not to mention DK's uspecial shuts him down, which is basically like Ichigo's sideb but worse.
The only way to win this is not letting DK think or breathe, the WHOLE TIME. If he has a chance to charge up that Giant Punch, it's gonna be one heck of a matchup.
30/70, Donkey Kong's favor.
