More amiibo, exactly what we need. I hope in-game content can only be accessible through them.
Good news, the best power is already confirmed amiibo-locked

the only really big loss from the amiibo abilities is UFO, since the MK and DDD ones seem to just be his RtDL incarnations. Not sure about the Parasol one, though.

i love the rpg looking mode of the game but it just makes me wish it was a full game developed around that since it's actually new
everything about the main game looks cool but boy oh boy do i wish they'd do something new instead of return to return to return to dreamland

That's probably gonna happen since we got this Kirby Fighters game from Triple Deluxe

If it becomes popular enough it may get an expanded mode/game like with Dedede's rythm mini-game maybe.

Some new abilities have now been shown.
Aside from the new Doctor ability, two new ones have been revealed: Poison and ESP. The former seems similar to RtDL's Water, while the latter is described as Kirby using psychic powers. I have hunch this one could be activated using the Ness amiibo.

No image on ESP, sorry.

The Smash ability is also gonna be upgraded to its Sm4sh incarnation. It's unknown how many abilities are returning. I'm hoping for Yo-Yo, I'd love to use Kirby's stand with it :pikachu:

ok somebody argue with me

i liked having a lot of really specialized, simple powers, like in the older games. it made you swap them out a lot and it made each one feel unique

i don't like the approach of giving each power a big moveset, like the recent games have done. it blurs them together in my mind

While that's true, I'm pretty sure I'm not the only who felt that having two fire abilities and two ice abilities was pretty redudant, so mixing those was a pretty neat way to not have to sacrifice one power to be able to use the other.
That said, there are plenty of abilities that fall pretty bad in complexity. Take Circus from Triple Deluxe, for example: Pretty much most of its moves require you to move around recklessly leaving yourself open to attacks.
In a nutshell, I personally prefer the more varied abilities the modern games use, although, only those that are pretty balanced. Fire is pretty much perfect in the modern games since it allows players to choose their own playstyle: Want to do quick-runs? There's the Dash attack. Want to relax and take things slowly? Use the normal attack and take your time.
Besides, what fun would it be having Meta Knight, Dedede and other playable characters have only one move?
i miss the animal friends though

the fire abilities had very different functions so i'd argue they definitely weren't redundant
(the ice ones weren't so different though)

& Meta Knight is in Nightmare in Dreamland and he has a more intricate moveset. that's fine. hell I like the Smash and UFO abilities too. I just don't like the triple deluxe design philosophy that all the new powers have to do a whole bunch of things. i didn't really like any of them much for it, and I can tell looking at the doctor power that this game's gonna be the same way

i like it fine for what it is but i really really don't like that it has been the same approach for 3 games in a row now
