Okay, we only need two more entrants before I can announce a date.

There's a bit of a problem, though. I have a very strong feeling that not many of you are fully aware of what you're dealing with. Five of the combatants have only joined within the past week. If by any chance someone does not know how the stage striking or bracket systems work, or if someone is only taking this as a passing curiosity and doesn't show up for their fight, there's going to be some difficulties running this.
I understand. I've been playing since v0.9 but recently made an account so I could join online tournaments and stuff like that :)

At least I know you're trying to take this seriously. Get in lots of practice, and I'm looking forward to seeing what you're capable of.

There's a few users, though, that I think just posted and forgot about it.

I will! I'm looking forward to it :) What if me and my opponent keep missing each other?

If you check in but your opponent's not there, your opponent will have 24 hours.
If your opponent checks in but you're not there, you will have the rest of the 24 hours.
The one who checks in most recently when the other is DQ'd by time out fights the next person on the waiting list in their place.

Keep in mind that I'll be able to tell if a combatant is trying to take advantage of this system. If I suspect foul play, I will act on it.

Hopefully they can be competitive, too.

What's your MGN ID, though? I can't officially register you until you tell me. Found it. You're #15. We just need one more now.

im like 90% knowing off what im getting in to a few of the acronyms i dont under stand but i get the basic premise, its a regular smash tourney with items switched on with low or very low (depends if youre gonna change the rules) and striking a stage means you ban that stage for the match and the first match is just neutral stages (i might be wrong there) :)

edit

when i mean ban for that match i mean when you brawl / melee / fight another character, im sorry im told that im really bad at explaining things >_>

And that's #16.

I will decide a date for the tournament shortly.

You can still enter after this, but your spot may not be guaranteed.

In the meantime, here's the starting bracket:

I know for a fact that replay saves done online are quite shaky. If I join servers I don't know if hazards are on unless the stage has hazards. But so far every single online match I saved via in-game replay desyncs (which was a huge bummer to me since they were such good matches.) But didn't TSON once state that having Hazards/Items on can cause desync in replays? Although we could just screen record matches just in case the replay files fail.

that would be a problem if the replay wasnt just for determening who won the match ;)

How do I enforce that? Especially since screen recorders can contribute to lag...

I have successfully saved replays with items on myself before, though...

This is the first time I've ever done something like this. That's part of why I haven't announced a date yet - I'm still working out the kinks.

Except they're not just to determine who won. They're so everyone can watch, along with archiving, and most importantly, analysis. The whole reason I started this is to gather data, after all.
