I agree, the combat is pretty mediocre. If it didn't carry the Devil May Cry name, it wouldn't be awful, but as it is, it's horribly disappointing.

That said, I will acknowledge that the environments of this game are usually pretty cool. I've only watched a few videos, but I've seen pretty much what I expected - cringeworthy dialogue, lackluster combat and neat morphing environments.

Tbh, I think it's okay to be a bit upset. I definetly agree that some people went medieval on it way to early and for the wrong reasons, but iunno. This was quite the reboot, in the sense that almost everything was changed bar the names of the characters. Of course fans were gonna get upset.

I really liked how the game looked from the start but the more they revealed the less I liked it. I feel like some of the characters were really cliché and some of the dialogue became even worse the DMC's predecessors.

I think DMC:DmC could have been a great standalone game or even a series if it geared more towards interactive changing enviroments (wich were cool in the game) and other new stuff. I really think it shouldn't have used established characters like Dante and Vergil. This game would've been better as a new IP with new characters in my opinion.

I remember seeing this video that explained just why Don'te is such a bad character. From what I recall, it was sort of a mixture of Ninja Theory making him completely different and trying to make him similar enough to the original to make fans like him at the same time. He was initially a more silent and brooding type, which could have been fine in its own right, but they felt the need to make him as c*** as possible to make him more like the Dante we know, which clashed with the rest of the game. He could have had an original personality, an original devil trigger even, but they fixed it to be more Dante-y, so they could be like "will you like this game now? he's not that different from the games you love!"

What's wrong with the game, of course, is a somewhat simplified combo system and the good guys shooting a woman right in the baby.



I guess this is the new norm for new companies making new games in the series. They overdo the character's friendly c*** into plain c***, and then they make controversial misogyny jokes. It's the Duke Nukem Forever rape scene all over again.
