I didn't know we were fighting lol.

A thing to use with fthrow is that if you see an opponent Ding in, you can SH shine bair for an easy edgeguard/percent.

It's pretty situational but its still fun to do lol

Nice. I try to get another grab into something else. Has anyone's opinion of shine spiking changed?

Also sorry as about the room and us not having a match. People kept joining.

you have to do it like you do for turned around up specials
down + opposite direction you are facing + special button
you can't do:
down + special button, and then hit left and right to turn around whenever you feel like it. this only works on the ground.

Shining out of the initial dash (you can't JC shine, just dash-cancel shine) and short-hopping produces a waveshine-like effect that allows super easy followups. I'm not sure you can continue it for Melee-like waveshining, but it works on almost every character and leads into tons of high-percentage combos like nair-shine-utilt or dair-shine-usmash. Not sure if this is widely known already.

In regards to up-specials, you guys should change it so that an input in the opposite direction will turn you around during up-spec if done during the starting frames.

@Lunary unless you are using a keyboard you will probably Illusion a lot at first.

Do you think you can produce a video of this?

Yeah. I'll work on it. It's really nice: shine -> dair -> shine -> usmash kills from around 80% on most characters and has virtually no risk.

As promised, a video on the Sliding Shine!

It isn't much, just a couple videos of the technique and a bit on what it is.

Oh that. I used to do that, but SS and others started getting on me on like, that saying it will never be a thing so I just decided to do what SS did. That was last demo and almost two years ago. I might try it again, but now hmmm I'm not sure.

Aww dude Ya done goofed. You can't trust SS, he thinks that Fox's fthrow has uses :colonthree:

Yeah you are right, I shouldn't have listened to him and that loser champero at all. :P

Hmmm What characters do you guys think get a guaranteed follow up out of Fox's up throw?

DK, Fox, Goku, Bomberman, etc. Essentially fast-fallers and heavyweights. For midweights it's far more interesting. When uthrow does link to uair it's usually devastating and can take stocks early (e.g., if Marth or Mario misses DI and jump out of hitstun and gets hit at higher percents). For really fast fallers, like DK and Fox, uthrow -> bair kills earlier than uthrow. For characters with poor landing games you can psych them out and get a rough 50-50 guess each time: you either punish a landing without a DJ when they mash out of the hitstun of uthrow, or you hit them with uair.

Oh I know about this. Also Marth is a medium-light character. Also just not fast fallers, but people with high or above average falling speeds as well.

Hmmm I was looking for a list. For certain characters I was able to get a guaranteed follow up, but I was looking for a list of these characters that people have tested.

Yo I'll just go into 1 fps and find out. Marth and Naruto are for sure not guaranteed. There are so few that it actually works on lol. But its 3 am soooooooooooo I'll do it later XD

Beating Pheonix Wright to the testing:

List of characters that it works on at 0%:
Mario
DK
Link
Kirby
NOT Samus (but really close, so it might work if they don't have good mashing out of hitstun)
Megaman
Fox (not really uair at this low of a percent, but you get a lot more than that)
Ness
Pikachu
Sonic
Wario
Zelda (but you have to be quick)
MK
ZSS
Bomberman
Falcon
BM (but only if you're quick)
Tails
Yoshi
Marth
Lloyd
Chibi-Robo
Ichigo
Naruto
Goku
Sora

List of characters that it works on at 100%:
Mario (but just barely)
DK
Link
Megaman
Fox
Sonic
Wario
ZSS
Bomberman
Falcon
Tails
Yoshi
Lloyd
Chibi-Robo
Ichigo
Goku
