K at this point in time this forum has likely reach 20-30+ kitchen bot posts. It's quite clear that they're all coming from the same place, could you not pinpoint it and do something about it? I do admit that the kitchen gangster phase was entertaining, and I get a little laugh whenever I see a kitchen post; however, haven't enough kitchens suffered already?

Someone would have to be pretty dumb to run so many bots from the same IP.

Bots are IP banned when they're dealt with already I'm assuming.

When I was managing another forum, many of the bots used the same "root" IP. Not sure if that's what it's called, hard to explain.

One day I was an admin on a forum

That same day the place was FLOODED with bots, albeit they were Amazonaws Crawlers. At most, there were 36 on at once, all from the same IP.

To take care of the bot posts, just make it so that users can't post links till they have at least 10 posts.

Hmm.... Maybe I'll see what features the "Newly Registered Users" group has to offer. I may be able to add certain restrictions to users who only recently signed up.

for some reason i dont think the demographic that this forum is targeted at is the right demographic to be marketing kitchens to

but maybe some advertising class 101 can prove me wrong

Yeah it's definitely not in the right demographic :P

With the newly registered user thing, Cleod... please try not to restrict the new users too much! Perhaps with some long term testing this could be achieved. Too many times I've seen forums fall because you can't do this or that within the first 100 posts... or something along those lines. Start with small solutions then branch out if necessary :) looking forward to seeing less kitchen posts

I'd say no links till they have at least 10 posts, seeing how most bots post 2-3 times.

Ok, I'm not sure how specific I can get with the features but I'll try it out and hopefully it will slow the bots down
