Considering they are advertising with 'Explore a new world' coupled with the dialogue of some of the X/Y travellers ("My home is not Hoenn, Kanto, Kalos etc etc but some new region you will see it soon" + souvenir) I'm guessing the new games aren't actually set in Hoenn, but rather will take place in a Hoenn-esque region (lots of islands, wingulls and trumpets).
