Personally, I'd add a little more contrast between the playground and the second layer, in order to avoid confusional presentation. Right now, I think the second and first layer could be mixed up by a lot of gamers during actual gameplay. Other then that, it looks enjoyable.
Just my two cents though.

This. Perhaps maybe a "Fog Effect" over the background? I could imagine seeing the next level in the distance, then going through a door/portal/flying monkey to play in the area I saw in the background.

I guess you meant foreground, right? I agree, and I think maybe it could be a different color or shade (like green or other sort of blue/purple), so he could use those same colors from the background somewhere else in the foreground (it isn't uncommon to have something stick out, like some kind of portal, special floor, object, switch, etc.), or in between them. @Suzy I'd love to see that in action, do you think you can find somebody to code it? Or have you already learned to code?

I'm talking to someone from school about it (will increase the variety of tiles soon and the background will come really soon, just wanted to show my progress) (will scrap this) -> i like that fog effect idea CV, I will implement that.

I'd like to recommend Stencyl. It's aimed at artists who can't code, but would like to see their imaginary flash games see the light of day. It's very easy to use, but has enough depth to do pretty much anything. The full version is also free.
Once you have the graphics done and you learn how to use the software, you could probably code this game in a week.
Speaking of graphics though, the new rocks are very nice. I'd recommend dithering out that harsh border between the darkest and second darkest shade though.

Oh. Well. Haha. Dither it some... more? Using different patterns of course. Also, I think it would be nicer if the corners were curved, right now they're at a sharp 90 degree angle which contrasts with the outside of the corners.

I like the more rocky texture on the right.

I've tried Stencyl and I must say I really enjoyed it and I'm glad I'm actually getting some progress on this. My problems so far are:
The tiles I have are 16x16 but some of them are beyond the size. The problem is, the program codes the tiles as backgrounds, NOT as possible foregrounds. Also, my logic for jumping is pretty retarded because of my complicated animation for jumping..

I still can't program for video games...... I remember the jumping animations. Maybe play the whole animation and create a looping animation for when the first one is finished. Just my novice 2 cents

Are you still having problems with your jumping code? If you are, could you take a screenshot please?
You can change individual tiles' hitboxes in the tile set editor.
Looks good. c:

The problem is that you can't code jump delay in Stencyl.
