Think chess vs. Monopoly.
In Monopoly, you use a die. It is difficult to predict what is going to happen on your turn.
In chess, you move a piece, and then, well, the piece moves. There's no 20% chance for the piece to move in the opposite direction.

I'm saying I would like a more chess-like game, although not necessarily completely without number generators.
