Got any tips on how to make that potential into valuable assets and skills? Do you have in mind a character I should do?

Here are some random Dr. Mario sprites I made on my downtime: Yeah it's just edits, but I might do some custom sprites until v0.9b comes out.

Falco needs some work. His scouter. His scouter didn't go at an angle like his eye. It was straight. Image For Reference:

These are nice sprites, you take requests? Also don't be too humble, you are better than most spriters here. Just keep spriting and your work will get better.

I love you work, dude. Specially that Dr. Mario. Tough, I reccomend not using pillow shading to color characters. Anyways, I love your work. Keep it up!

Your lineart and palettes are, for the most part, solid and will serve you well. I think your attention to detail is great, but it's also holding you back; when working with pixels, it's very easy to cram too much into the small space of the sprite. My suggestion is that instead of trying to represent everything with a pixel, you let the relations between the pixels express the important details. Some details just don't deserve pixels all to themselves :P While I don't believe in magic tutorials that instantly make oneself a better artist, this article personally really helped me have the right mindset while working in pixels: http://www.pixel.schlet.net/Also, don't be afraid to liven up your colours! Some saturation might help make your palettes even better.

I really need help on this one: I'm having difficulties on general shading and some of the lineart. The reason why I do the pillow shading is that it's the only way I know how to do shading. So if someone can help explain shading or show me to a simple tutorial that would be great.

I'm sorry, this is a very quick and sloppy edit, but maybe it will help you. The trick to shading is to chose a light source (I chose top left), then have all the highlights in that direction and all the shadows in the other.
