Mario Kart Tour's website is now live and it's accepting applications for closed beta test participants but only for Japan and US residents and Android users, if anyone is interested.

so i played tour and the controls are disappointing. not impossible, but i think i would've preferred gyro controls-- and i don't even like gyro controls.

also think it would've made sense to hold of on release until multiplayer was done, but the devs must know what they're doing i guess

also who's idea was it to make the entire game on vertical mode
that completely turned me off from trying it, you lose so much important horizontal space that'd help you navigate the tracks better but blegh

For the control scheme that Mario Kart Tour uses, vertical mode isn't really that bad, if it had more complex controls (say, a button to accelerate, one for brake and another one for drifting), then it'd be awfully bad. But it's understandable, judging by the rubies pricing, Nintendo definitely wants you to play Mario Kart 8 Deluxe instead, they cost pretty much the same.
