A priest from North Yorkshire has advised his congregation to shoplift if they find themselves in hard times.

Makes sense.

Actually, I do not see much harm in it and to live and to sustain oneself is better than to rot in the gutter.

I'm fairly anti-capitalist and I think large businesses form a large part of the problem of crime aside being merely responsible for some of the poverty.

The constabulary should refrain from judging sermons as well.

Seems kind of interesting, if someone just got out of jail couldn't they go back for shoplifting

Makes total sense. I mean, when the going gets tough, listen to the criminal priest.

You shouldn't be so quick to make straw men about this priest.

He has actually put a decent amount of thought to it, probably more than all of us combined.

His jeer at Wal-Mart is quite genious, if I may be so bold.

I can't stand people that try to excuse illegal behavior. I can handle understanding it and admitting that you'd do the same in that position, but excusing it, especially as a person in a position like that, is f*** retarded. Not only that, he encourages it, too!

Legality is usually not a good ground to argue for.

I'd say that stealing is legitimate in a certain context. I think we all can devise such context in which we'd say it'd be okay. However wild these circumstances are.

Legal or illegal is not the same as right or wrong, however they are still laws and if you break them you are still a criminal.

I think it's rather interesting that you are condemning what this man has said when I strongly suspect that most of you are guilty of a similar thing: theft. I am practically certain that you get illegal films, games, movies, etc. but yet you sit there and condemn this man who is encouraging it for life-saving purposes. Do you think it would be easy to say something like this?

However, that said, I have no idea how else to fix the problem and Wal-Mart is a bit short on the ethics side.

Hell yes I have, I'm also a complete hypocrite about almost everything.
That's no excuse for anyone to blatantly tell people to steal.
