seriously, wouldn't islam be the awsomest religion?you go to heaven and you get 12 virgins waiting there. if not that religion would have been so stupid, i would have so converted. but i'm against all religions and they're wrong ethics/morals stories that f*** up society today and brainwashes everyone to think that everything is good, everything is fine, and everyone will go to hell/heaven, religions always have to blame on someone when there's a conflict, etc.etc... so i'm sick of religions.

Yes, because trying to create a society based on love, s****, honesty, and kindness is totally wrong.
Also I don't recall religion "brainwashing" people into believing life is good and easy. If anything, it says there is good in the world, but not the whole worldaperfect and loving place.

And with religions always blaming someone for wars, well it's more the other way around.

Basically, I'm atheist. I'm tolerant of all religions, but not the radicals. I will not take part further in this discussion because I find it pointless.

I don't know how you managed to fail now. But you actually did.

..What.

He was stating his perspective, how did he fail? Stop smoking that weed that fuels your imaginary world ever so briefly, if you would.

S:(n) atheism, godlessness (the doctrine or belief that there is no God)
S:(n) atheism(a lack of belief in the existence of God or gods)

Try learning what words mean before saying anything.

I'm an atheist, and I don't spend any of my time trying to prove religion wrong.

The fact that the universe is here is all that matters. Curiosity killed the cat, after all.

I believe there was a distinction between the two, and I stated it at some point, but I can't recall. In any case, some of the most absurd things said about religion (from my perspective) is that Buddhism is too tolerant.

Atheism and anti-religionism are not necessarily mutually inclusive beliefs.

Somebody can be atheist while appreciating religious pluriformity and somebody can be an anti-religionist while not being atheist, say agnostic. Or one could be even anti-religionist while being a spiritualist, but it seems to me there would be some serious problems combining opposition to all belief with spiritualism, though I can see somebody could oppose organised religion while being spiritual.

Also, my religion states everybody is utterly evil, that the world is altogether in a dreadful state because of us, that nobody knows who will and who won't go to heaven or hell (doesn't define either of them very clearly either) and we ourselves are to blame for conflict. Would it still be bad, despite being completely opposed to what you labelled to be bad? Anyway, those seem to be a strange set of reasons to reject religion, because they are not necessarily part of religion, both in the sense that not all religious people are "guilty" of that and in the sense thatnot only religious people are "guilty" off that (excluding belief in heaven and hell in most cases, though).

Then finally, mainstream secular morality's values are primarily just copied Christian values. If religions produce wrong moral values, do most secular people then hold wrong moral values as well? People like Nietzsche are rather uncommon.

Seriously, did anyone really say it was too tolerant? >_>

I can understand it is absurd from (not only) your perspective, though many Westerners are painstakingly ignorant about Buddhism (though in all fairness, I'm fairly ignorant about it as well). I'd say that at the very least, "our" Western views are highly romanticised.

Their argument is that Buddhism is tolerant of too many things, including, of all things, terrorism. This was said on a right-wing/conservative forum known as a militaryphotos.net. But yes, some people tend to have a romanticised view of Buddhism. Not that I care, but the only thing that irks me is that my government documents list me as Buddhist. So out of silly spite, whenever there is a religion field to fill in, on a form, I put in a different religion than the last.

You can't deny you are very good at being a pocket encyclopedia. Or just generally more knowledgeable.

Not every atheist is a Richard Dawkins.

It's like a square is a rectangle but a rectangle isn't a square.
