How big do you plan on getting this game? Your 0.7 is already around 225mb (According to the download site) which is more than double ssf2's iirc...

SSF2 stays consistent with their sprite resolution, on the other hand Crusade tends to jump around. Lots of their effects and stages are also high res compared to SSF2, this may be the reason. SSF2 has also been focusing on getting things done properly (as of current) and that also reduces the amount of content per demo, all in all it doesn't really matter. (It could even have to do with compression but w/e  )

I suppose SSF2 and SSBC have totally different ways of getting things done, But still 225mb is a bit higher than what we want our final game to be at... I'd be less worried about Duck Hunt Dog and more on that file size cause really 80 characters is a bit much for a GM game imo... It's got it's own weird way of loading things which is why I never play GM games. Only Crusade since it's worth trying out.

GM might actually be the main cause of the file size, I had forgotten that it was being made using GM.

Maybe I know Flash has all these things to compress file size or something...

Well, the download includes one or two songs for every stage (of which there are like 20 or something), so that probably contributes to the file size. The .exe itself is only about 5 megabytes, but to decrease loading time and file-size in general (and allow changes to the music) everything is externally loaded from a bunch of folders.
Just from taking a quick look at the folders, it looks like the Fighter folder is about half of the total size of the game. This is the folder that has all character sprites, non-GM effects and most of the sound effects.

Judging from the fact that we have about 40% of the full content planned, the game will probably amount to 600 megs or so upon completion, although that could be decreased significantly by taking out the music and only putting music on the stages you like/play on most often.

I don't think it matters too much. I mean the full version will be a one time download, so I think fans will be happy to download a large file.

Agreed. Also, most of there sprites are, for lack of a better word, complete s***. And even then, it's not consistently s***, and all the sprite styles clash together.

Rest assured that the spriting team is working on respriting the characters that really need it (aka MOST of the currently included characters).

I find funny how everyone says Crusade looks like s*** (i think it too XD). Its because it runs at 960x720 (and 60 fps). Try to rescale the Crusade's window to SSF 2 resolution, it will looks the same or even better than Flash 2 in some aspects.

It's not the resolution thats lacking, its the consistency in the sprites styles.

I got to be honest... I'm not impressed... It's just so cluttered in the bg with Resized Blurry Trees, Water's okay, Rocks, Dirt, Grass have very little detail (Kinda a good style if you can pull it off right, but on the hills there are a ton of weird shaped/ straight lines and just looks strange), bg's way out of style... You get it...

Also DO NOT use a style you can't keep up with. Look at the grass near the bottom then look at the upper mountains...

I realize you might not have made the stage but please it would be cool to see another namek stage that was interesting instead of a boring ol walk off stage...

Is not a walkoff stage:

This is a Mugen stage that i found around the internet, and i am fairly sures that it uses anime rips.

The blurry Trees are my fault, Everything is 1400 x 800 scaled down with game maker to 700 x 400 but i forgot to rescale the upper layer (the trees), and instead i used a 700 x 400 image (thats why it looks blurry, but the other trees looks fine)

We are working as hard as we can, but we dont have so many spriters as SSF2, many of our sprites are edits from other sprites, and we only have just a few custom ones (Ridley is an example)

Also, i did a custom one, and it didnt go well.......
