yep...i'm asking for this...

echo fighters, for anyone who's been living under a bush for the last four months, are new fighters based on other fighters, and can be swapped out in the character select screen. it wouldn't be too hard to implement, you could just use the old zelda/sheik css code for swapping out.
however.
there is one major problem i can see here.
sprites.
i speak for a lot of people when i say this, that probably wouldn't work.

any fans who are willing to help out (like me) could help out. we could easily work in fighters like dr mario, lucina, dark pit, etc.

The main benefit that adding Echo Fighters provides is that it allows you to add multiple additional characters with only the fraction of the work it would take to add the same amount of "original" characters. Seeing as SSF2 has to sprite every single frame of animation individually anyway, that does not apply (and if you really wanna help with spriting, just apply to the dev team). Besides, Id much rather see characters like Dark Samus getting an original moveset instead of just being a carbon copy/straight up clone (lets be real, clones getting a fancy new name doesnt mean they arent clones anymore).

How about Hollow Ichigo as Ichigo's echo fighter?
