I do Mostly cuz I think/thought the same for a loooong period of time. Call me out, but Sheik will stay a male for me. To get back to topic, Sheik is about the most aggrevating character in the game to me (unless DK against my Chibi). Idk why, but if I see one, I just get mad/depressed and f*** up.

I wonder how many ppl thought like me when they first saw sheik without knowing it was zelda, cause when i first saw her without knowing it was zelda, i still though sheik was a girl.

Im just going with the Japanese version of SSBB... It explicity says "young male" in this game if you translate it. In the US version, Sheik is female, dunno about EU version tho. I guess Sheik was at least designed to be male, but because western culture has an issue with transgender and stuff like that, it was changed to female, but still is male in Japan and for some guys like me n Hakma. Taken from the Zeldapedia.

Sheik is a female according to Bill Trinen: http://www.polygon.com/2014/8/5/5948989/zelda-nintendo-sheik-gender-cosplay. She is simply the disguised version of Zelda. She is also voiced by a woman in all of her games, although this is more of an addendum because voice actors do sometimes have different genders than their characters.

One could suppose that Sheik's gender is actually locale-dependent and that Bill speaks only for Nintendo of America because we have a more conservative environment around gender-switching, but I prefer to think that Zelda canon is universal.

Im kinda itchy with that. Bill Trinen is a marketing guy who had nothing to do with Sheiks development, hes talking about a non-canon spin-off game, and lastly, its America Not the most reliable source. Id like to hear someone who actually developed Sheik as he/she is today. Until then, Ill stick with the Zeldapedia.

Sheik may have a masculine body, but the real question we need to ask is what gender Sheik identifies as. I'm 99% sure that Zelda identifies as a girl, and since Sheik is Zelda, then Sheik also identifies as a girl.

TBH I don't really clump Sheik in with the rest of the girls of the roster.(Same with Samus and Jiggs) Even thought Sheik is supposed to be a girl.

Remember Smash isn't canon either like Hyrule Warriors, so there's no indication that it has to match up with Japan's OoT. Also, I just checked the figurine info in Smash and Sheik is a she in that. I don't know how to translate the Japanese text, but at least in English Sheik is a girl.

Why?

An argument for sheik's gender is that zelda changes her gender as well as her appearance.
Which makes sense since she lived as with her alias being male for a while somewhere in the series.

Biologically, Sheik HAS to be a male. But if, in Sheik's head, Sheik is a girl, then Sheik is a girl. There are people like this in real life, for both genders.

This is starting to go beyond the scope of SSF2 lol
