I believe everyone is entitled to their opinion and expressing that different opinion can keep one's ego in check. If everyone says it's good, he'll never strive to improve. Constructive criticism is best, but when the critic doesn't have their heart in it because the forums are about to die, but still wants to make a small difference, they'll settle for something simple. I could've done something far worse than "Yikes." But I opted for the cleaner route that would offend enough to make him think "What was wrong with my story so as to incur a 'yikes'?" but not discourage him entirely. I would've preferred to keep my vigilantism a secret and make a martyr of myself under the guise of him improving despite me, but it seems I must make my motive transparent to educate the unwashed masses.

But I do not blame you, young Luke. You were only trying to protect the weak and downtrodden and for that I thank you with tears in my eyes and hope for the future.
